Systems, methods, logic, and devices may support shoe design through 2.5-dimensional (2.5D) shoe models. In some examples, a system may include a 2D shoe shell pattern engine configured to access a 2D shoe shell pattern, the 2D shoe shell pattern generated for shoe design. The system may also include a 2.5D shoe model engine configured to generate a 2.5D shoe model by placing shoe design elements provided by a user onto the 2D shoe shell pattern of the shoe, including by adding 2.5D layering data for each shoe design element placed on the 2D shoe shell pattern to form the 2.5D shoe model, and wrap the 2.5D shoe model into a 3D shoe model for construction of a physical shoe from the 3D shoe model.

Shoe design through 2.5-dimensional shoe models

A system may support augmented reality (AR)-based layup of plies to form a composite laminate. The system may include an AR headset configured to drive an AR view that digitally visualizes ply placement data on a composite part layup tool physically visible through the AR headset. The system may also include an AR ply layup engine AR ply layup engine configured to analyze a view of the AR headset to identify the composite part layup tool, obtain ply placement data, and provide ply placement data to the AR headset to digitally overlay on the composite part layup tool physically visible through the AR headset.

Sensors for measuring properties of resinous materials having an insulating member bonded directly to a conductive strand and a narrow thread-like geometry in which only a very small surface area of the connecting strand is exposed. Method and apparatus for nondestructively removing a cut segment of predetermined shape from a limp material sheet workpiece and transporting the cut workpiece segment to a staging area for further processing. The cut segment is picked up by a picker which may comprise an array of carding strips, each strip having a plurality of needle-like elements, arranged such that each strip can be displaced relative to its adjacent strips and the needle-like elements of each strip are angularly offset with respect to the needle-like elements of the adjacent strips. Such removal and transporting having is accomplished without distorting the shape of the cut segment.

A resin transfer molding system including a sealable chamber having opposing flexible diaphragms forming an outer reconfigurable tooling surface and an inner surface surrounding a workpiece including fibrous reinforcing material to be impregnated and formed over a mold surface. There are means for impregnating the fibrous reinforcing material and means for compressing the diaphragms about the fibrous reinforcing material and for urging the compressed diaphragms and the fibrous reinforcing material contained therein over the mold surface to conform the compressed diaphragms and the fibrous reinforcing material to the contours of the mold surface.

An apparatus for controlling the shape of an elongated flexible spline to substantially match a third order polynomial curve extending between first and second end points where the spline extends along a deformable central axis. A spline support member extends along the central axis. The spline is pivotably coupled to the support member at a first point along said central axis, and is slidingly coupled to the support member at second, third and fourth points along the central axis. The support member establishes a first predetermined distance (L) along a reference line passing through the interior two of said first, second, third and fourth points. A first spline deflector selectively deflects one of the exterior two of the first, second, third and fourth points by a distance D.sub.L in a direction perpendicular to the reference line. A second spline deflector selectively deflects the other of the exterior two of the first, second, third and fourth points by a distance D.sub.R in a direction perpendicular to the reference line. A controller controls the first and second spline deflectors so that the central axis of the spline is deformed and the intermediate two points substantially match points of the polynomial curve and so that the exterior two points are offset with respect to the reference line and the spline central axis overlies the first and second end points of the curve.
