A luminaire assembly generally includes a reflector having a center of symmetry and a lamp supported within the reflector, wherein the lamp is offset from the reflector center of symmetry, whereby light emitted from the lamp is reflected by the reflector in an asymmetric pattern. In a method of illuminating a roadway having traffic moving in a flow direction, a luminaire having a reflector and a lamp is mounted at a side of the roadway and light emitted from the lamp is reflected with the reflector whereby a greater portion of the reflected light is directed in the traffic flow direction than is directed against the traffic flow direction.

Positive contrast roadway lighting system

A roadway luminaire is provided which includes a mast mount docking station securable to an end of a pole mast. The mast mount docking station includes a power plug electrically coupled to the power conductors. The luminaire includes a corresponding power plug which is electrically and mechanically coupled to the mast mount docking station via a twist-lock feature including mating keys and keyways in the docking station and luminaire, respectively. The luminaire includes several plug-in components such as a plug-in photoelectric cell, a plug-in starter and a capacitor press-fit into a molded cavity in the luminaire. The power plug of the luminaire is adaptable to be used with all international voltages. The twist-lock feature provides for a fool-proof mechanical and electrical connection to ensure that the correctly rated luminaire is connected to the supply voltage.

Roadway luminaire

A method of manufacturing a roadway luminaire is provided which includes the steps of molding a two part upper housing from a composite material and applying a reflective substance directly to an inner surface of a domed portion of the housing to create a reflector. The luminaire further includes a lower housing hingedly attached to the upper housing which supports a lens therein and is pivotable into an open position and latched to the upper housing in a closed position. Means are provided for mounting the luminaire to a pole.

An electrical receptacle assembly for attachment to a luminaire housing comprises a housing defining a plurality of contact seating channels extending therethrough along axes parallel to a contact member insertion axis, electrical contact members being seated in the housing channels individually along the axes parallel to the contact member insertion axis. A clamp member is joined to the housing by a threaded fastener. The housing defines an anti-rotation member resident in the clamp member which prevents the clamp member from rotational movement relative to the housing upon tightening the threaded fastener.

Luminaire

A fitter bolt bracket is provided for holding a luminaire to a luminaire support. The bracket comprises an elongated metal piece having a base section joining two raised edge sections, with the bracket having a channel shaped cross section. The raised edge sections each have a cut out portion, and the base section has two holes one near either end. The bracket holes are aligned with two laterally and longitudinally offset holes in the upper housing of the luminaire. The cut out portion of the raised edge section are axially aligned with a tubular luminaire support. The bracket is held to the upper housing by two bolts each one passing through one hole in the bracket and threading into the corresponding hole in the upper housing.

The present invention relates to a starter circuit case assembly having a starter section and a cap assembly. The starter section includes a starter circuit mounted on a circuit board and is securely engaged by the cap assembly. The cap assembly is mounted to and electrically connected to the light fixture.

Starting circuit enclosure

A hinge assembly is provided for a lighting fixture whereby a bezel door is hinged to the fixture housing in a manner that it can be swung open from the open face of the housing but cannot be dropped or lose supported contact with the housing. The hinge assembly is located along one edge of the housing. The hinge assembly comprises a hinge hook portion typically an extension of the lower bezel door edge. The hinge hook is an open-faced, open-ended cylindrical structure having a centerpiece with a stud extending therefrom. The hinge bar comprises two axially aligned cylindrical sections extending typically from the lower edge of the housing. The hinge hook is fitted over the hinge bar sections and a fastener is placed over the hinge hook stud.

Lighting fixture hinge assembly

A door hinge for a luminaire is provided. The bezel section of the luminaire is affixed to the base section of the luminaire by such hinge. A hinge bar is affixed to an end of the bezel section, and a hinge plate is affixed to a base section of the luminaire. The hinge bar comprises an elongated bar of generally cylindrical cross section extending generally parallel to the end of the bezel section. The hinge plate comprises a hook shaped device generally flat in cross section and having a base section affixed to the luminaire base section, a curved middle section and a distal end section bent back toward the luminaire base section. The bezel section is rotatably mounted to the base section of the luminaire by the hinge. Upon the lifting of the bezel section, the hinge bar can be lifted from the hinge plate and the bezel section can be removed from the luminaire.
