The present application provides a thrust pad assembly for a turbomachine. The thrust pad assembly may include a thrust pad machining with an insert flange, a polymer liner positioned within the insert flange, and an oil feed configuration. The oil feed configuration includes one or more oil output ports extending through the thrust pad machining and an oil feed groove in the polymer liner.

Systems and methods for controlling a clearance between a rotor and a stator of a steam turbine during transient operations rely upon heating or cooling a shell support structure of the steam turbine that supports the stator of the steam turbine. Selectively heating or cooling the shell support structure makes it possible for thermal growth/contraction rates and magnitudes of the shell support structure to better match the thermal growth/contraction rates and magnitudes of a bearing support structure of the steam turbine during transient operations. As a result, the clearance between the rotor and the stator of the steam turbine can be maintained.

A method of monitoring a power generation system that includes a steam turbine that is coupled to a gas turbine engine. The method includes calculating, by a control system, a gas turbine engine power output that is based at least in part on a predefined power generation system power output and a predefined steam turbine power output. The power generation system is operated to generate a power output that is approximately equal to the predefined power generation system power output. A signal indicative of a sensed operating power output of the gas turbine engine is transmitted from a sensor to the control system. A condition of the steam turbine is determined based at least in part on the sensed operating gas turbine engine power output and the calculated gas turbine engine power output.

A locating plate for locating a first piece of rotary machinery relative to a second piece of rotary machinery is provided. The plate has a first periphery surface for mating with a first receiving surface of the first piece of rotary machinery and a second periphery surface for mating with a second receiving surface of the second piece of rotary machinery. The plate also has at least one attaching device for use in attaching the plate to the first piece of rotary machinery and at least one removal device for use in removing the plate from the first piece of rotary machinery. The plate is removably attachable to the second piece of rotary machinery, and the second periphery surface is sizable independently from the first periphery surface.

A number of sealing segments,mounts a brush seal about a rotor. The tips of the brush seal,are maintained out of contact with the rotor surface throughout the entire operating range of the turbomachinery. Thus, the increase in temperature resultant from rubs between the bristle tips and the rotor,which effectively increase vibrations of the turbomachinery are eliminated. Brush seals are therefore maintained out of contact with the rotor throughout the entire operating range of the turbomachinery and thus do not affect the dynamic behavior of the rotor.

A double tilting pad journal bearing includes a substantially cylindrical, open ended beating casing having a longitudinal axis extending therethrough, an interior surface of which supports a plurality of beating liner pads for circumferential and axial tilting movement relative to the casing and to the longitudinal axis. The casing is formed with a pair of annular oil feed grooves in the exterior surface thereof communicating with the interior of the bearing casing by a plurality of radially directed feed passages. The interior surface is also formed with at least one oil drain annulus in communication with at least one radially oriented drain port. Annular seals are fitted within grooves at opposite ends of the bearing casing. The bearing liner pads are secured within the casing by a sliding tongue and groove fit which nevertheless permits tilting of the pads both circumferentially and axially. Locking pins are used to hold the bearing liner pads in proper circumferential orientation within the bearing casing.
