The present disclosure is generally directed to devices and methods of treating aqueous solutions to help remove or otherwise reduce levels, concentrations or amounts of one or more contaminants. A method and apparatus for producing a highly attractive, decorative baseball bat. The apparatus of the invention enables the manufacture of decorative baseball bats that exhibit a wide variety of attractive designs. More particularly, the apparatus includes a uniquely configured, inexpensive masking member that can be slipped over the barrel of the bat so as to make selective portions of the baseball bat during the sandblasting step of the method of the invention.

A manually operated, finger-manipulatable non-electric hair trimming device for shaving nostril hair, ear hair or the like, includes a head structure sized to fit within a small body cavity, such as a person's nostril or ear cavity, which includes a flexible razor blade strip. The head structure has a base portion and a curved guard portion, which preferably has first and second ends which are attached to the base portion. A finger grip portion is connected to the base portion to allow precise manual manipulation of the hair trimming device. The head structure further has a thin, elongated narrow razor blade strip with a razor sharp first edge portion, which may be a serrated edge with razor-sharp notches such as V-slots or may be a conventional straight edge. Alternatively, two razor-sharp edges, one serrated and one straight, may be provided. The razor blade strip preferably has an inverted U-shape, made by flexing it to extend substantially along the curved guard portion of the head structure, which may serve as the blade strip platform. The guard may have fingers which extend beyond the razor's edge with blade-exposing recesses therebetween.

In-line razor-blade shaving devices feature two sets of razor blade strips pointing inwardly in opposite directions. The devices are designed for safely and rapidly shaving hair from large body portions such as legs and arms. Each device features an elongated handle arranged in line with an elongated bi-directional razor blade head. Each set of razor blade strips in the head may be provided with one or more straight razor-sharp edges, which point in the same direction, while the blade edges of the two sets point inwardly toward from one another, generally in opposite directions. The edges of blade strips of the two sets may be arranged in one common working plane, or each set may be in its own working plane, with the planes at an angle to one another. The working planes are defined by the elongated front and rear guard surfaces of the blade-edge guarding system on the face of the razor head. These guard surfaces contact a user's skin before and after the razor-sharp edges to help ensure safe shaving. The bi-directional head may be constructed in a variety of ways, including in a molded form, in an assembled form, as a replaceable bi-directional cartridge, and as two separate uni-directional razor blade heads arranged in close proximity to one another. These in-line bi-directional razor blade shaving devices represent a new family of wet shaving razor devices. They each can be used with a minimum of effort by sliding the razor blade head back and forth along the skin to be shaved, with shaving occurring in both directions. Some embodiments have two distinct working planes on the head of the shaving device. To use them, the user's wrist rotates at the end of each stroke (or at the beginning of the next stroke), to bring the other working plane, not currently on the skin, into engagement with the skin for the next stroke in the opposite direction.

Manual razor blade shaving devices each feature a razor head structure with sharpened razor blade strips positioned between a pair of large-area non-shaving pressure-applying pads, called glides. These side-located glides, in combination with front and rear blade guards, provide a razor blade shaving head with an effective skin-shaping and guarding system for safely shaving soft pliable contoured skin surfaces, such as the underarm areas. The glides serve as pressure pads to allow significant non-shaving forces to be applied to the pliable skin and subcutaneous body tissue near the razor-sharp blade edges so as to reshape the skin to be shaved to match more closely the razor blade edge profile. This new razor head architecture thus reduces nicks and scratches in sensitive skin areas, like the underarms, by lowering the forces applied to the skin through the blade edges, while providing for closer shaving. The new razor heads are used with conventional T-bar razor handles and head connection arrangement. Multiple embodiments show glides that are rounded, flat or curved, and formed as part of the blade platform, the cap member or non-shaving base structure. Also, the length of the blade strips may be reduced to promote ease-of-use in contoured areas. The use of large-area non-shaving glides on one or both sides of exposed sharpened razor blade edges creates a new class of wet shaving razor blade devices that can be implemented in a variety of forms, including cartridges, flexible razor blade heads, and curved razor blade heads.

In-line manual razor blade shaving devices feature an elongated frame having an elongated front cutter support portion arranged in-line with an elongated handle portion. The cutter support portion has first and second opposed sides upon which elongated razor blade structures, such as dual razor blade cartridges, are mounted. The elongated razor blade structures each feature at least one razor blade strip spaced from and arranged generally parallel to elongated front and rear guard portions. The guards define a working plane into which the razor blade edges of the razor blade structure project. The new in-line safety straight razors of the present invention may be utilized in a manner very much like the old unguarded in-line straight razor devices long used by barbers, except that front and rear guard portions help shield the exposed razor-sharp edges so as to minimize the occurrence of minor cuts, nicks and scrapes. The razor blades may be constructed from strips of flat metal alloy or other suitable material sharpened along one edge. The razor blades of the two razor blade structures on opposite sides of the front cutter support portion may be arranged to point slightly outwardly away from the central front cutter support portion, or they may be arranged to all point in the same direction, by virtue of the razor blade strips of the first and second razor blade head structures being arranged generally parallel to one another.

Double-sided safety straight razor

Single-head bi-directional razor devices having an elongated bi-directional razor head with flexible guards along both outer longitudinal edges are disclosed. The razor head may be constructed as a removable cartridge if desired, and has first and second sets of razor blade strips are positioned within the head in a substantially common working plane, with their sharpened edges pointing outwardly. The working plane is defined in part by the flexible guards, which preferably are formed as elongate pliable fins arranged adjacent the outer edges of the razor head. The first and second sets of razor blade strips may consist of one, two or three razor blade strips, and are each preferably mounted for individual spring-loaded movement. The user gently presses the razor head against the skin to be shaved, and then moves the head in one direction for contacting blades from the first set against the user's skin for cutting hair, and then, without lifting the razor head from the skin, moves the head in the opposite direction so that blades from the second set cut hair during this reverse movement. The flexible guard system helps manipulate the skin to be shaved so that it is taut, and helps position the sharpened edges of the blade strips to engage the skin with the appropriate amount of pressure for a closer shave.

Manual shaving devices for shaving underarm areas and other small contoured skin surfaces. Each device has a head structure contains one or more razor blade strips between two non-shaving side glide surfaces. In preferred embodiments, the head structure has exposed blade strips about 12 mm to 25 mm (0.5' to 1.0') long, and glide areas each preferably 6 mm to 12 mm long. The blade strips may be straight or curved. The glide areas are preferably rounded with rounded edges, and may smooth or textured. Each device helps facilitate safe shaving of skin surfaces that are soft and pliable by allowing the user to apply, through the glide areas, a non-cutting force to the general area of the skin surface being shaved. This helps alter the skin contour to more closely match that of the sharpened razor blade edges of the device, which are relatively short in length and only bear lightly against the skin to be shaved.

In-line razor-blade shaving devices feature two sets of razor blade strips pointing outwardly in opposite directions. The devices are designed for safely and rapidly shaving hair from large body portions such as legs and arms. Each device features an elongated handle arranged in line with an elongated bi-directional razor blade head. Each set of razor blade strips in the head may be provided with one or more straight razor-sharp edges, which point in the same direction, while the blade edges of the two sets point outwardly away from one another, generally in opposite directions. The edges of blade strips of the two sets may be arranged in one common working plane, or each set may be in its own working plane, with the planes at an angle to one another. The working planes are defined by the elongated front and rear guard surfaces of the blade-edge guarding system on the face of the razor head. These guard surfaces contact a user's skin before and after the razor-sharp edges to help ensure safe shaving. The bi-directional head may be constructed in a variety of ways, including in a molded form, in an assembled form, as a replaceable bi-directional cartridge, and as two separate uni-directional razor blade heads arranged in close proximity to one another. These in-line bi-directional razor blade shaving devices represent a new family of wet shaving razor devices.
