Systems and methods are disclosed for sharing network feedback information. The method may include establishing, at a first access terminal, a wireless link with an access point, receiving network configuration data from the access point, composing a network feedback expression that indicates a status or availability of at least one network service associated with the access point, and transmitting the network feedback expression to a second access terminal via a D2D link.

Sharing network feedback information using a device-to-device link

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives downlink data from a base station via a downlink resource, sends the downlink data to a user equipment (UE) via an uplink resource, receives uplink data from the UE via the uplink resource, and sends the uplink data to the base station via the uplink resource. The apparatus also determines at least one of an observed downlink signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) or an observed uplink interference. The apparatus then broadcasts a relay availability based on the determination that the at least one of the downlink SINR observed is greater than a first threshold or the uplink interference at the relay is less than a second threshold.

A method of wireless communication includes determining resources available for peer discovery. The resources include first peer discovery resources with a first time interval and second peer discovery resources with a second time interval less than the first time interval. The method further includes communicating peer discovery signals through a first subset of peer discovery resources of the first peer discovery resources and a second subset of peer discovery resources of the second peer discovery resources. The second subset of peer discovery resources includes less resource elements than the first subset of peer discovery resources.

Methods and apparatus for adaptive resource multiplexing in a peer-to-peer network

A method of wireless communication includes splitting data into n data sets, where n is greater than or equal to two. In addition, the method includes selecting n different resources associated with a resource identifier based on a hopping pattern for sending each of the data sets within a set of resources of one full set of transmissions. The selected n resources have a hopping pattern such that there is at least one resource of the n resources that is non-overlapping in time with resources associated with resource identifiers other than said resource identifier. Furthermore, the method includes sending m data sets on m selected resources in m transmissions within the one full set of transmissions, where m is less than or equal to n.

Methods and apparatus for OFDM peer discovery

Upon successful decoding of a first set of slots of a first data packet, an Access Network (AN) can send an acknowledge message (ACK) to an Access Terminal (AT) to indicate that the AN has successfully decoded the data received in the first set of slots of the first data packet. Upon unsuccessful decoding of the first set of slots of the first data packet, the AN can send a negative acknowledge message (NAK) to the AT to indicate that the AN has not successfully decoded the data received in the first set of slots of a first data packet. Based upon receipt of the NAK, the AT can resend the data by sending a second set of slots of the first data packet containing redundant data. Based upon receipt of the ACK, the AT can send a first set of slots of another packet.

A system () and various methods and apparatus for efficient communications of data across various protocol layers are disclosed. A control and transceiver system () configured for determining a data rate control (DRC) value and for transmission a maximum number of time slots allowed for transmission of a physical layer packet of data (). After detecting a normal termination of transmission, the decoding thresholds () are adjusted for decoding a positive acknowledgment message, and repeating decoding of acknowledgment channel () with the adjusted thresholds (). Retransmitting the physical layer packet of data at least one more time after based on whether the repeat of decoding of the acknowledgment channel () produces a negative acknowledgment message. The retransmission may be conditioned upon a throughput level of communications between the base station and the mobile station.

Method and apparatus for augmenting physical layer ARQ in a wireless data communication system

A power control mechanism having a number of states and suitable for used in a communication system in which data transmissions are not continuous (i.e., bursty in nature). In one embodiment, a power control unit includes a data processor, a state machine, and a threshold adjustment element. The data processor receives and processes an input signal to provide status of data frames received from the input signal for a particular data transmission. The state machine receives the frame status and provides a current state for the power control unit. The current state is indicative of a status of a particular communication session that includes the data transmission, and is one of a number of possible states. The threshold adjustment element receives the frame status and the current state and adjusts a power control setpoint in response thereto. The setpoint is used to control the signal quality of the input signal and is adjusted in accordance with a particular adjustment scheme (i.e., a particular set of 'rules') selected from a number of possible adjustment schemes. Each possible adjustment scheme is associated with a respective possible state and defines a particular set of rules for adjusting the setpoint.
