A sensor system for determining at least one rotation characteristic of an element rotating around at least one rotation axis. The sensor system includes at least one sensor wheel, which is connectable to the rotating element, the sensor wheel having a sensor wheel profile. The sensor system also includes at least one position sensor and at least one phase sensor. The sensor system further includes at least one digital interface and at least one incremental interface, the sensor system being configured to output at least one absolute position signal generated with the aid of the position sensor via the digital interface and to output at least one incremental signal generated with the aid of the phase sensor via the incremental interface.

Sensor system for determining at least one rotation characteristic of an element rotating around at least one rotation axis

A method for determining a recognition threshold for recognizing the presence of a tooth or a tooth gap of a position sensor in front of a sensor is presented. The method includes a step of reading in a sensor signal which represents a variation over time of a measured magnetic field when the teeth and the tooth gaps of the position sensor are passed by the sensor. In addition, the method includes a step of ascertaining from the sensor signal a first value based on a minimum value of the sensor signal and a first value based on a maximum value of the sensor signal within a predefined time interval. The method also includes a step of computing a differential absolute value which represents a predetermined percentage of a difference between the value based on the at least one maximum value and a value based on the at least one minimum value of the sensor signal. Lastly, the method includes a step of determining the recognition threshold, so that the recognition threshold represents a value that corresponds to a result of adding the differential absolute value to the first value based on the minimum value of the sensor signal.

Method and device for determining a recognition threshold

A method for incrementally ascertaining a rotation angle of a shaft, in particular of a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, the shaft being connected to a sensor wheel having teeth and tooth gaps, and at least one sensor being associated with the sensor wheel, the sensor generating a square-wave signal as an output signal which may assume a first value or a second value, and a signal edge being associated with a tooth edge, and the position in time of a counteredge with respect to the edge encoding a direction of rotation, an assignment of a direction of rotation reversal point to a tooth of the sensor wheel or a tooth gap of the sensor wheel being encoded by the position in time of the counteredge with respect to the edge, the rotation angle being ascertained by adding an increment for each signal edge to a counter, after a direction of rotation reversal while a tooth passes the sensor, a half-increment, having a sign of the direction of rotation after the direction of rotation reversal, being incremented once and in the event of a direction of rotation reversal while a tooth gap passes the sensor, a half-increment, having a sign of the direction of rotation prior to the direction of rotation reversal, being incremented once.
