An electric light and external light control system for a space with a dual-mode light sensor is proposed. The dual-mode light sensor () measures and computes the amount of external light and electrical light incident on its sensing surface. The individual measured light components (total light, electric light and external light) are transmitted to the window treatment controller () and the electric light controller (). The controllers () use this information to optimally control the lighting condition to meet user requirements and reduce energy consumption. Both controllers () operate concurrently and independently, but are linked via the dual-mode sensor ().

The present invention relates to a spectral detection device () for detecting spectral components of received light, wherein the spectral detection device () comprises a filtering structure () arranged to filter the received light and output light with a wavelength within a predetermined wavelength range; and a light sensor () arranged to detect the light output by the filtering structure (), wherein the filtering structure () is variable to allow a variation of the predetermined wavelength range over time. The polarizing filter is structured to filter out s-polarized light and pass only p-polarized light to light detector subassemblies. The light source is structured and positioned to emit the unpolarized light in a manner wherein the unpolarized light will exit the measuring device at a predetermined angle with respect to a normal to a light emitting plane of the measuring device, wherein the predetermined angle is an angle (the Brewster's angle) at which only s-polarized light will be reflected by the skin surface when the unpolarized light is incident thereon.

This invention relates to a color controlled light source comprising a plurality of colored light elements, and a plurality of (filtered) photo detectors, having different spectral characteristics covering all or most of the total spectrum of the light elements. The (filtered) photo detectors detect the light output of the light source, and generate corresponding detection signals. The light source further has a color control unit for generating driving signals to the light elements on the basis of the detection signals and a predetermined target color point of the light output of the light source, and a modulator for individual signature modulation of the driving signal to each one of said light elements. A corresponding demodulator is provided for demodulation of the detection signals and extraction, from each detection signal, of actual values of the light outputs of the light elements. The color control unit has means for determining the spectral output of each light element on basis of the actual values, means for determining an actual color point from said spectral outputs of all light elements, and means for comparing said target color point with said actual color point and, if there is a difference, adjusting said driving signals in order to minimize the difference.

The invention relates to an interference filter () for receiving an incident light () and selecting a light component of the incident light to be transmitted (). The interference filter () includes a metal mirror (), a dielectric mirror (), and a spacer () placed between the metal mirror () and the dielectric mirror (). The metal mirror () and the dielectric mirror () are configured to enable optical interference in the spacer () to select the light component of the incident light to be transmitted (). The device comprising at least one set of light passing areas. The present invention relates to light sensors for measuring light characteristics. In particular, the present invention relates to a light directionality sensor that is capable of measuring light characteristics such as the light direction, light collimation, and light distribution. According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a light directionality sensor comprising a photo-sensor (), comprising a plurality of photo-sensitive elements (), and a plurality of light-absorbing light selecting structures () arranged on the photo-sensor so as to form an array of light-absorbing light selecting structures. In the array of light-absorbing light selecting structures, a succession of at least some of the light-absorbing light selecting structures has varying structural characteristics. The varying structural characteristics is achieved by each individual structure of the succession being formed such that it allows light within a different angle interval with respect to the array to be sensed. Further, according to a second aspect of the invention, there is provided a method for forming a light sensor according to the first aspect of the present invention.

Light directionality sensor

Proposed is a light sensor (), comprising at least one wavelength selective photo-detector (), a lens () and an aperture ().The wavelength selective photo-detector allows detecting light within a predefined wavelength range falling on the sensor. The lens project light on the photo-detector and the aperture defines a field of view of the light sensor. The photo-detector (), the lens (), and the aperture () are arranged in a telecentric configuration. Advantageously, this allows light to impinge on the wavelength selective photo-detector within a predefined range of angles irrespective of the direction of the light incident on the aperture, thus removing the angle dependent response of the wavelength selective photo-detector.
