A motor vehicle includes a body component defining a trunk and a trunk gutter, a weather strip attached is a distal end of the trunk gutter, a trunk lid adapted to be disposed in the trunk gutter when in a closed position, and a tail light assembly affixed to the body component. The tail light assembly includes a housing defining an inner surface of the tail light assembly affixed to the body of the motor vehicle by a fastener, a bracket disposed in the housing, a light source affixed to the bracket, an inner lens overlaying the light source, an opaque lens extension extending from a distal end of the inner lens obscuring the bracket and housing from a view rearward of the motor vehicle, and an outer lens overlaying the inner lens and the opaque lens extension.

The projection weld element can include a barrel having a first axial end and a second axial end, a central axial bore being defined through the barrel from the first axial end towards the second axial end, and at least a portion of the central axial bore including an attachment structure, such as internal threads. A radial flange can extend from the second axial end of the barrel, with the flange including a distal axial face on a side of the flange facing away from the first axial end of the barrel and a proximal axial face on a side of the flange facing toward the first axial end of the barrel. A method for joining a working piece with a weld element can include joining a working piece with the above-described weld element and heating the structures to effect a projection welding between the working piece and the weld element.

An acoustic spray foam control system and method for a vehicle includes an acoustic spray foam control baffle, a wedge member and acoustic spray foam. The acoustic spray foam control baffle is mounted within a cavity defined in a vehicle body of the vehicle. The acoustic spray foam control baffle has a tapered recess portion defining a tapered recess. The wedge member is complementarily received in the tapered recess of the tapered recess portion of the acoustic spray foam control baffle for applying force against the tapered recess portion to set the acoustic spray foam control baffle within the cavity. The acoustic spray foam is injected into the cavity on one side of the acoustic spray foam control baffle and contained thereby.

A front pillar construction on a vehicle frame includes a pillar inner member having pillar inner member mating flanges and a pillar outer member having pillar outer member mating flanges welded to the pillar inner member mating flanges to form a front pillar member with a hollow construction. The front pillar construction further includes an angled reinforcement member fixedly secured to the pillar member at a location arranged to break a wheel of the vehicle disposed immediately forward of the pillar member during small overlap frontal crashes wherein the wheel is forced rearward toward the pillar member.

A wheelchair lift and restraining device for an automotive vehicle includes a base pivotally mounted beneath the main floor of a vehicle. First and second support arm portions extend outwardly from the base and are configured for engagement with a wheelchair frame, preferably a wheel axle. A rotating assembly selectively moves the support arm through approximately 90&#xb0; of rotation and the system is raised and lowered relative to the vehicle to transport the wheelchair from outside the vehicle to the interior of the vehicle, and also position the wheelchair at a desired height in the vehicle interior. Translation movement of the support arms also positions the wheelchair occupant at a desired location. A headrest extends from the system to provide desired neck and head support.

Automotive wheelchair mobility system

An attachment structure system is disclosed for attaching a damper to a vehicle. The attachment structure system can include a stiffener body that has a central portion connected to a damper. The stiffener body can be connected to both the vehicle's frame and a vehicle body portion, such as the wheel housing, to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness from being transmitted to the driver of the vehicle, and to provide other structural and ride characteristic benefits to the vehicle.
