A release coating composition and a method of forming a release coating on a bakeware substrate using the coating composition is provided. The release coating composition includes (i) an acrylic resin, (ii) an epoxy resin, and (iii) a silicone release agent. The release coating composition can be formed in two parts, a base coat composition and a top coat composition. The base coat composition may include an epoxy resin, an acrylic resin, a color additive and appropriate solvents. The top coat composition may include an acrylic resin, an epoxy resin, a silicone release agent, a silicone resin and appropriate solvents. Each of the parts can be separately applied to the bakeware substrate and heated to form a release coating. In some cases, the top coat composition alone may only be applied if fabrication of the coated substrate will not be severe.

Method and composition for producing a release coating on a bakeware

A container for baking and browning food when subjected to microwave energy and method of making same. A metal substrate has a ferrite-containing coating with a thickness between about 9.5 mils and about 10.5 mils on one surface and a coating on the other surface suitable for use in a microwave oven. The ferrite-containing coating includes a ferrite and a binder of epoxy resin and polyamide resin and plasticizer resin with the ratio by weight of ferrite to binder maintained between about 1.0 to about 1.8 to 1.0. The coated metal is cold drawn to provide a container suitable for heating various foods to a specified temperature in a short time. The coating is applied to the metal as a paint and then dried. Multiple thin coatings are applied to obtain the final thickness.

Fast curing resin coating compositions for coating metal surfaces and a one-step method are described. The coatings comprise a high molecular weight epoxy resin, although a portion thereof may be low molecular weight, an effective amount of a cross-linking agent for the epoxy resin, a polysiloxane resin system, an effective amount of a curing agent for the polysiloxane fluid system, a fluorocarbon polymer, and the balance being suitable solvents. The coatings are applied in one-step and dry in less than one minute and may be formed into various shapes and forms useful for stovetop cookware.

Fast-curing resin compositions for coating metal surfaces are described. They comprise a low molecular weight methylated melamine-formaldehyde resin, an epoxy resin, such as a bisphenol-epichlorohydrin resin, a silicone fluid and an organopolysiloxane release resin, with a zing-iron organometallic curing agent and a solvent. In addition to curing rapidly (one minute or less), the resin compositions are flexible and metal sheets coated therewith can be pressed or bent into various shapes and forms without the resin coating cracking or chipping.

In addition to curing rapidly (one minute or less), the resin compositions are flexible and metal sheets coated therewith can be pressed or bent into various shapes and forms without the resin coating cracking or chipping.
