An electrical card connector () includes an insulative housing () enclosed by a metallic shield (). The housing () defines a receiving space () with first and second sets of contacts () disposed in the housing () and communicating with the receiving space (). A protection door () is pivotally mounted to the housing () in an entrance opening () blocking the receiving space () from an exterior. A moveable locking member () releasably locks the protection door (). The protection door () defines a cutout to leave a small entrance opening () to allow a small sized card () to be guidably and snugly inserted into the receiving space () wherein the protection door () is equipped with another small pivotal anti-dust door () to cover that small entrance opening (). Therefore, the card connector () can mutually exclusively receive the large sized card () and the small sized card () guidably and reliably.

The latching mechanism includes an insulative fixing device, a metallic spring latching device and a metallic grounding device, wherein the fixing device includes the card supporting portion and a positioning post upwardly extending therefrom corresponding to the positioning hole of the electronic card. The latching device includes a connection portion connected to the fixing device, the spring arm extending from the connection portion and the hook portion located on the spring arm and extending toward the card edge connector for locking the rear portion of the electronic card. The grounding device is electrically connected to the latching device and includes mounting legs mechanically and electrically engaged with the corresponding grounding pads formed on the printed circuit board for grounding.

PC board assembly

A latching mechanism for holding an electronic card on a printed circuit board, includes an insulative fixing device mounted to the printed circuit board and a metallic latching device attached to the fixing device. The fixing device provides the positioning post extending through the positioning hole of the electronic card and the latching device provides a hook section downwardly pressing the electronic card so as to have the electronic card in a parallel relation with the printed circuit board. A card edge connector is provided on the printed circuit board for cooperatively holding the electronic card thereon.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing assembly equipped with two sets of contacts adapted to be coupled to two different type cards which are mutually exclusively received in at least partially a common space in the housing. A device moveably disposed in the common space functions to not only guide correct insertion of the cards into the correct position/space but also prevent incorrect insertion of the cards into the incorrect position/space.

IC card connector with anti-mismating device

A connector assembly includes upper and lower connectors each essentially defining the basic structure of the SO DIMM connector and including an elongated main body with two latches extending forwardly at two ends thereof. The body of each of the upper and the lower connectors includes upper and lower passageways receives upper and lower contacts, respectively. The body of the upper connector is higher than that of the lower connector, and defines a recess in a front lower portion thereof to receive a rear portion of the body of the lower connector, whereby the front portion of the body of the upper connector and the rear portion of the body of the lower connector overlap each other in the vertical direction, thus result in dense arrangement of the assembly.

Densely arranged duplex profile connector assembly

A pair of horizontal type connectors are densely arranged in a front-to-back direction. The front connector including an insulative housing with a horizontally forwardly facing mating port. A pair of piers forwardly extend from two opposite ends of the front connector. The rear connector including an insulative housing with a horizontally forwardly facing mating port. A pair of piers forwardly extend from two opposite ends of the rear connector. The front connector includes a pair of cutouts around a rear portion in alignment with the corresponding piers of the front connector, respectively. The cutout is configured to allow the front end of the corresponding pier of the rear connector located thereabove while without interference therewith when the front connector is upwardly moved.

Structure of horizontal type DIMM connector for dense arrangement

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing with upper and lower row passageways therein in a zigzag manner along the longitudinal direction of the housing. A plurality of upper and lower row contacts are disposed in the corresponding upper and lower row passageways, respectively. The mounting pads of the upper row contacts extend in one direction and the mounting pads of the lower rows contacts extend in an opposite direction so that the mounting pads of the upper row contacts are able to be respectively aligned with those of the lower row contacts in the front-to-back direction for easy, systematic and regular footprint arrangement on the printed circuit board on which the connector is mounted.

Dense contact tail alignment of connector

A card edge connector includes an insulative housing defining a central slot along a longitudinal direction thereof. Two rows of passageways are disposed by two sides of the central slot, respectively. An elongated slit is formed in an outer side of each corresponding row of the passageways. A contact strip is retained in the corresponding slit and laterally communicating with some corresponding designated passageways. A plurality of discrete first contacts are retainably received within such some designated passageways, respectively, and a plurality of second contacts are respectively retainably disposed in the remaining passageways.

Card edge connector with commoning contacts and individual contacts and method making the same

A card edge connector includes an insulative housing defining a central slot along a longitudinal direction thereof. Two rows of passageways are disposed by two sides of the central slot, respectively. An elongated slit is formed in an outer side of each corresponding row of the passageways. A contact strip includes a elongated strip retention portion retained in the corresponding slit, a plurality of first contacts extending, from an upper portion of the retention portion, laterally into the some corresponding designated passageways. A plurality of discrete second contacts are respectively retainably disposed in the remaining passageways.

A card edge connector includes an insulative housing retaining conductive contacts soldered to a mother board. The housing defines a slot for receiving a daughter board engageable by the contacts for electrically connecting the daughter board to the mother board. Two side arms integrally extend from the housing, each having an inner face forming a platform for supporting the daughter board. A remote end section of each side arm forms a relatively rigid portion and a relatively flexible portion. A reinforcing member made of metal is attached to the remote end section of each side arm. The reinforcing member includes a side plate having a remote end from which a securing tab extends for interposing the relatively flexible portion therebetween and thus attaching the reinforcing member to the relatively flexible portion. A barbed tab extends from a proximal end of the side plate and is interferentially fit into a slit defined in the relatively rigid portion thereby securing the reinforcing member to the relatively rigid portion while allowing deflection of the relatively flexible portion with respect to the relatively rigid portion. A soldering pad extends from the barbed tab to be soldered to the mother board. A cantilever type spring arm extends from the soldering pad in an inclined fashion toward the housing. The spring arm forms an arc contact section projecting above the platform for effectively and compliantly engaging the daughter board.

Card edge connector with grounding pad

A card edge connector comprises an insulative housing defining a central slot with a plurality of contacts by two sides. The contacts define plural rows of contact tails extending downwardly around the rear portion of the housing. A pair of ejectors are positioned at two opposite ends of the housing. A plurality of partitions are formed on the rear face of the housing with slots formed between every adjacent two partitions. A spacer is assembled to the connector. The spacer cooperates with the partitions to align all the contact tails of the connector.

Alignment device for use with connector

A card edge connector comprises an insulative housing defining a central slot with a plurality of contacts by two sides. A pair of latches are positioned at two opposite ends of the housing. Each latch includes a plastic portion and a metal portion. The plastic portion includes a locking lug. The metal portion is retained to the housing with a guidance/protection stud generally in alignment with the corresponding locking lug in a vertical direction so that the locking lug will not be damaged during downward rotational installation of the card module into the housing.
