Light fixture

A swivel device for mounting a spotlight comprises vertical means for adjustable rotation of the spotlight around a vertical axis over a maximum arc of more than 360.degree. without twisting damage to electrical wires passing through an interior portion of the swivel device, and horizontal means for adjustable rotation of the spotlight around a horizontal axis. The swivel device is extremely compact and very neat and simple in appearance.

An electrical connector for an audio product, such as an amplifier and a loudspeaker, comprises a rod-shaped body and a clamping sleeve; the rod-shaped body having a rear portion, a front portion and an intermediate portion; the rear portion having an axial hole at its end, a segment of the end being ground away from the side to form a solder lug, and having male threads between the end and the intermediate portion; the intermediate portion having a flange and a knurled segment between the flange and the male threads of the rear portion; the front portion having a slot across its diameter and an axial hole in the slot, both of which extend from its end substantially to the flange, and having a cylindrical segment adjacent the flange and having a wider segment with male threads and a tapered end; the clamping sleeve having female threads engageable with the male threads of the front portion of the rod-shaped body and having an internal tapered end adjacent the female threads and engageable with the tapered end of the front portion of the rod-shaped body. The electrical connector makes possible tight and intimate non-permanent electrical connection of unterminated wire and/or of wire terminations, such as spade lugs, banana plugs and double banana plugs, to provide enhanced electrical and hence sonic properties.

Electrical connector for high-level audio signals

An improved air diffuser or air boot has a unique incremental air dampering and air pattern control mechanism, namely a plurality of independent adjacent flat damper plates or blades which are adjustably attached to an inner surface of a bottom ledge just above an air outlet throat and are slideable across the throat. Each plate may be manually or automatically slid from its open position resting on the ledge to a closed position where it butts against the far side of the air outlet throat.

An improved drop-ceiling support system for supporting ceiling tiles and lighting fixtures comprises hanger members attached to and extending downwardly from an original ceiling and arranged at aligned intervals along parallel rows, inverted U-shaped carrier channel members adjoined end-to-end in parallel rows and attached to the hanger members, and main runner members adjoined end-to-end in parallel rows transverse to the rows of carrier channel members and snap-fitted beneath and into the carrier channel members.

Drop-ceiling support system

A display panel provides a secure and aesthetic way to mount pictures and other objects. The panel includes a plurality of resilient, pre-curved slats which are connected to a support board. Each slat has a concave inner surface and a convex outer surface. The slats are connected to the support board in a manner that permits each slat to be moved away from the support board so that a bracket can be inserted between the board and the slat.

In a lighting system having lighting fixtures including end plates and a method of assembling same with rigid conduit connectors therebetween, each end plate is formed with at least one alignable key hole thereon having a substantially circular Archimedean spiral circumference and each conduit connector comprises a tube having a substantially circular Archimedean spiral surface configured to be longitudinally slidably received in each key hole in one given angular orientation and to provide a friction-tight fit in the key hole in response to rotation of the tube around its longitudinal axis is one direction from said one given angular orientation.

Conduit connectors for lighting systems

A recessed incandescent lighting fixture has a faceplate and a wireway spaced from the faceplate for holding a bulb socket and for effecting the electrical connections to the fixture. A substantially cylindrical thermal protector is connected to the wireway by a wireway extension comprising a flexible metallic conduit; and a bracket is disposed on the rear surface of the faceplate for releasably retaining the protector and conduit thereat. The bracket comprises a base member, a first mounting member having a first slot therein for releasably retaining the thermal protector, a second mounting member having two arms forming a second slot for releasably receiving the minor root diameter of the conduit, and a spacing member disposed in the slots for deflecting the two arms relative to each other at an angle substantially equal to the pitch of the conduit thread.

In a ceiling supported lighting fixture, an improved mounting device is provided, having clamping plates with a notch for receiving a ceiling support member. The clamping plates are mounted to the end plates of the light fixture in two parallel pairs to effect alignment of the notch and plate, and the ceiling support member can be locked in the notch to prevent inadvertent relative movement. The locking is carried out by a latch member which is pivotally mounted on the clamping plate and moved between a locking and an unlocking position. The lighting fixture is also provided with an improved ballast holder including a ballast hole in a wall of the fixture and two identical ballast mounting clips, each formed from an integral blank of spring metal receiving an edge of the housing under tension and a spring clamp extending from the gap to hold a ballast in place upon insertion into the hole and between the two clips.

Ceiling supported lighting fixtures

An electrical connector has electrically conducting contact members with interengaging ends for interengagement with other contact members; and an outer insulating support housing. The support housing is in the form of a base and an array of projections extending upwardly from the base. The array of projections include at least one small size projection and one large size projection, with the large size projection having a large bore in the forward end, sized to receive the forward end of the small size projection. The small size projection has a small bore in its forward end. Supported in the bores are contact members with their interengagement ends extending into the bores so that when the small projection and large projection of two connectors are interengaged, the contact members are engaged to complete an electric circuit therebetween.

Electrical connector

A universally adjustable lamp fixture includes a separate base plate, light shield and lens assembly. The shield and base plate are releasably connected together to permit the single base plate to be connected with shields having different shapes, depending on the use to which the lamp fixture is to be applied. The shield is rotatable with respect to the base plate which, when a non-symmetrical shield is used, provides control of the orientation of the light patterns. The lens assembly includes a rotatably mounted lens having an engaging socket formed therein to permit it to be rotated by a complementary formed key. This permits control of the light pattern even after the lens has become too hot to safely touch. Alternatively a lens assembly, which includes a gripping member, may be used to rotate the lens and shield simultaneously.

Universally adjustable lamp fixture

A recessed fluorescent light system includes a pair of saddle-shaped brackets having depending side legs resting on parallel bars of a hung ceiling structure, releasably locked thereto by bracket-carried lower spring latch members. A ballast and wire housing channel is coupled to the bracket top cross bars by bracket-mounted latch springs which also project through bracket transverse legs to define baffle assembly latch members. A horizontal plate reflector extends between and beyond the channel depending legs and is secured thereto. The plate includes depending longitudinal end flanges and inwardly spaced depending dimples. A light baffle assembly includes longitudinal upwardly and inwardly curved reflector plates terminating in horizontal flanges underlying and spaced from the side borders of the horizontal reflector by the dimples and spaced also from the depending flanges to delineate a sound attenuating tortuous elongated shallow air return passageway. The channel ends are closed by fluorescent bulb socket carrying depending side plates. The baffle assembly is releasably retained to the bracket by the baffle spring latch member engaging the upper flanges of the side baffle, and is connected at its upper corners by elongated bead chains to the bracket legs by way of the lower latch members. The sockets may be vertically adjustable.
