A method of manufacturing a hot dip coated steel strip, wherein coating takes place by leading the strip through a bath of molten metal including Al, the remainder of the metal being Zn, inevitable impurities and optionally a maximum of 0.3% of one or more additional elements, wherein the composition of the bath is controlled so as to have an aluminium content of more than 0.50%.

Method of manufacturing a continuous hot dip coated steel strip and hot dip coated steel sheet

A Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Mg coating on a steel strip. Specific amounts of Mg and Al are chosen, in a relationship wherein the amount of Al is higher than the amount of Mg. Also provided is a method for providing a steel strip having a Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Mg coating provided by hot dip coating with a coating bath, wherein the thickness of the coating is controlled using gas knifes above the coating bath.

A steel strip, sheet or blank used for painted parts, wherein the steel strip, sheet or blank is optionally metallic coated. According to the invention, the steel has grains with an essentially equi-axed median grain size smaller than 11.0 micrometer, resulting in a difference in Waviness &#x394;Wsa&#x2264;0.12 &#x3bc;m between the surface before and after the forming of the strip, sheet or blank. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a steel strip.
