Systems and methods presented herein include an assembly of tools that can be arranged in a wellbore in such a way that allows a combination of formation testing (e.g., with a modular formation dynamics testing tool, a wireline formation testing tool, and so forth) and drill stem testing (DST). The assembly of tools enables performance of both types of activities potentially in a single run in the hole, and facilitate full control of the reservoir and formation fluids or, in case of injection, of injected fluids inside the tubing or drill pipe. In addition, the assembly of tools allows for multiple set points to perform zonal evaluations with the formation testing tools, and facilitate performance of full scale flow tests with the DST string.

A technique enables mechanical control of a directional valve. The technique may utilize a system comprising a directional valve which is mechanically actuatable between a plurality of flow positions. The directional valve is mechanically coupled with an indexer mechanism. The indexer mechanism may be shifted to a plurality of desired indexer positions defined by a cam track. As the indexer mechanism is shifted between indexer positions, the mechanical link between the indexer mechanism and the directional valve mechanically shifts the directional valve to selected flow positions of the plurality of flow positions.

A technique facilitates mechanical operation of components, e.g. valves, without utilizing electronics at the components or control lines routed to the components. An actuation control system is fully mechanical in the sense that it is constructed to mechanically shift to different control positions via pressure input, such as pressure input supplied along a wellbore annulus. The actuation control system utilizes a spool valve coupled with a pilot control circuit which establishes a reference pressure that can be used in shifting the spool valve to different operational positions.

In accordance to one or more aspects of the disclosure an indexing track for controlling a dual valve assembly includes a plurality of interconnected pressure-up and pressure-down slots that define sequence paths to translate the pin and to actuate the dual valve assembly to a first position when the pin is in a first track position, to a second position when the pin is in a mid-track position, and a third position when the pin is in a third track position.

A downhole tool includes a housing. A magnet, an inductor, and a piston are positioned within the housing. The piston moves from a first position to a second position in response to a pressure of a fluid in the housing increasing. A distance between the magnet and the inductor varies when the piston moves, thereby causing the inductor to generate power.

A slip joint assembly that is usable with a well includes first, second and third tubular housing sections; and first and second mandrels. The first tubular housing section is adapted to connect to a first tubing string segment; the second tubular housing section is adapted to connect to a second tubing string segment; the third tubular housing section disposed between the first and second tubular housing sections; the first mandrel forms a slidable connection with the first tubular housing section; and the second mandrel forms a slidable connection with the second tubular housing section.
