A planar semiconductor device having a cathode region surrounding an anode region is flip chip mounted to a conductor film circuit. An anode contact extends from the anode region and is bonded to a first portion of the conductor film circuit such that that portion of the cathode region which overlaps the first portion of the conductor film circuit is minimized. That portion of the cathode region distal from the anode region is relatively wide, and a relatively large area cathode contact extends from the cathode region and is bonded to a second portion of the conductor film circuit.

Flip chip mounted diode

A contact on a surface of a semiconductor device includes a post projecting from the surface of the device and a head on the post. The post has a transverse cross-sectional shape of at least three arms projecting radially from a common center point. The head has a cross-sectional area larger than the transverse cross-sectional area of the post. The post is on the surface of a body of semiconductor material and extends through a layer of an inorganic insulating material, such as an oxide or nitride, on the surface of the body. The post is of a height such that the head is spaced from the inorganic insulating material layer. A layer of an organic insulating material, such as a polyimide or silicone resin, may be provided on the inorganic insulating material layer and around the post to provide additional support for the head.

Contact for semiconductor devices

Stylus, having a conductive electrode, is mounted at one end of a pivoted stylus support arm within a pickup cartridge body of non-conductive material, removably received in a conductive housing. A conductive spring, with one end in electrical contact with the stylus electrode, is secured at its opposite end to the cartridge body. A printed circuit board, mounted within the conductive housing, comprises a dielectric substrate bearing a conductive coating in several elongated surface regions. The conductive coating in two of said regions defines first and second conductors, lying substantially parallel to each other. When the cartridge is received in the housing, electrical contact is established between the body-secured spring end and one end of the first conductor. Capacitive elements couple the other end of the first conductor to the housing. The spring, first conductor, and housing form a transmission line, which resonates with the end-loading capacitive elements and a variable capacitance formed between stylus electrode and the disc record, at frequencies in a selected range. UHF oscillations at a frequency adjacent said range are inductively coupled to the transmission line. AM detector, connected to second conductor, recovers recorded information.

Pickup circuitry for a video disc player with printed circuit board

A diode package comprising a compressible dielectric member having an aperture extending through its two major opposite surfaces. An electrically conductive lid is attached on one of the major surfaces of the dielectric member and an electrically conductive base is attached on the other surface. A semiconductor diode having two terminals oppositely situated is soldered with one diode terminal to the base within the aperture of the dielectric member. The lid is further soldered to the other diode terminal subsequent to the compressible dielectric member being compressed an amount sufficient for the lid to make an electrical connection to the other diode terminal.

Diode package

A two-inductor varactor tunable solid-state microwave oscillator comprising a series tunable circuit wherein one inductor is serially connected with a negative resistance active element, an impedance load, and a varactor. The circuit is tuned by changing the reactance of the circuit by varying electrically the capacitance of the varactor. The second inductor is connected in parallel with the varactor to increase the range of reactance change of the series circuit effected by the variation in capacitance of the varactor to provide thereby for a wider frequency tuning range.
