A thermoplastic polyurethane is obtained via reaction of isocyanates (a) with a polyol component (b) having at least one polyesterdiol (b1), at least one polyetherdiol (b2) and at least one polycarbonatediol (b3), in each case with a molar mass of from 500 to 5000 g/mol, and also with at least one diol with a molar mass of from 62 to 500 g/mol. The thermoplastic polyurethane can be used for producing moldings, more particularly seals, coupling stars, valves, and profiles. The polyurethane has exceptional mechanical and chemical properties.

Thermoplastic polyurethane for seal applications

A sealing ring having a sealing body with a dynamically stressed sealing lip made of an elastomeric material which at least partially surrounds a toroidal supporting body. The supporting body has a slope facing the sealing lip, and the sealing body has a dynamically stressed sealing bulge which is adjacent with an axial distance on the side of the sealing lip facing away from the space to be sealed. The sealing bulge is in contact with the face to be sealed under an initial elastic stress. The sealing bulge is arranged axially between two radial planes which axially delimit the slope.

Sealing ring with sloping support body

A sealing system for a circumferential gap between an inner component and a concentric outer component. The inner component moves in relation to the outer component essentially only linearly back and forth. The two components rotate together around a common axis. There is a groove around the inner component. A centrifugal seal is secured in the groove by axial resilience. An axial lip around one side of the seal rests against at least one of the groove's sides. There is at least one radial lip along the outer circumference of the seal. The centrifugal force, increasingly exerted on a hydraulic fluid as the rotation of the components accelerates, causes the seal to expand radially as well until the lip or lips along its outer circumference come into contact with the inner surface of the outer component, sealing off the gap. The axial lip and the radial lip define a diagonal plane at an angle of 15.degree. to 75.degree. to the axis of rotation.
