If a color photographic material, which is processed by the process steps a) image-by-image exposure, b) color developing, c) bleaching, d) fixing, e) washing or stabilizing, and f) drying, wherein steps c) and d) may be combined to constitute bleach-fixing, is subjected to a temperature treatment of 0.01 to 30 seconds at 60 to 240.degree. C. between exposure and color developing, an increase of the contrast can thereby be obtained.

Processing color photographic materials

A color photographic material comprising at least one cyan-coupling silver halide emulsion layer containing a red sensitizer, at least one magenta-coupling silver halide emulsion layer containing a green sensitizer and at least one yellow-coupling silver halide emulsion layer containing a blue sensitizer on a support, in which a silver halide emulsion is provided in a coupler-free layer sensitized with another spectral sensitizer (a gap sensitizer) of which the sensitization maximum lies between the sensitization maxima of the red- and green-sensitive layers or the green- and blue-sensitive layers, is distinguished by an extended gradation range towards the maximum densities and by distinctly improved detail reproduction in the region of high densities.

The process for bleach fixing an exposed and developed color photographic material whose silver halide emulsion layers contain silver chlorobromide emulsions having a silver bromide content of from 0.3 to 2.0 mol%, in which the bleach fixing bath (1) contains, as bleaching agent, an iron(III) complex at least 50 mol% of whose complex former corresponds to the following formula ##STR1## (2) is adjusted to a pH of x where 7.0&gt;.times.&gt;4.5 and (3) contains a thiosulphate is distinguished by a powerful bleaching action and great environmental compatibility.
