A distribution module for a boat or vehicle which distribution module includes at least one heat exchanger and inlet and outlet fittings for a plurality of water or coolant circuits. A pump is conveniently provided with the distribution module for zone heating and a mixing valve may be further provided for adjusting the temperature of potable water heated within the heat exchanger.

Distribution module for water heater

A water heater for heating potable water used in a boat or vehicle. Exhaust heated by the burner of the water heater is discharged from the burner and is conveyed through an exhaust duct which extends through a water jacket surrounding the burner and which water jacket holds the potable water to be heated. The potable water is heated by the burner and also by the hot exhaust gases in the exhaust duct. Operating components are accessible from one end of the water heater.

Potable water heater

A diesel/electric appliance for heating coolant within an auxiliary heater circuit and for heating potable water within a potable water circuit. The appliance includes a diesel powered auxiliary heater and a coolant jacket surrounding the burner of the auxiliary heater. Electrical resistance elements are immersed within the coolant jacket to maintain the temperature of the potable water circuit by transferring heat through a heat exchanger to the potable water circuit.

Combination diesel/electric heating appliance systems

A hot water heating system for use in a boat or vehicle which utilises the engine of the vehicle or boat, an AC power source or a fuel powered heater to heat a living area and to heat potable water. Each of the power sources can be utilised independently or in combination depending on the location and operation of the vehicle or boat. A valve is automatically controlled by a thermostat to allow heated fluid to circulate through the living area or to bypass the area. Aquastats are provided to automatically allow potable water to be heated. A display is provided for displaying textual and numerical information in user friendly format relating to the operation of the hot water heating system.

Potable water heater and method of using same

A flame sensor for sensing the presence of a flame in a burner. The signal from the sensor is passed to an amplifier located adjacent to the sensor and amplified without having a sensor signal contaminated with common mode radiation. The selectively amplified signal between 15 and 80 Hz is processed by a microcontroller located remotely from the sensor and amplifier which microcontroller may terminate or continue burner operation. The integrity of the connection circuitry between the amplifier and the microcontroller is also monitored and burner shutdown occurs if there is a fault in such circuitry.

Flame sensor and method of using same

Self contained and transportable camp heater with a burner within a casing and a fuel tank operably connected to the burner. A stack is removably mounted on the casing and is positioned on a holder with the casing and the fuel tank after removal for transportation purposes. A regulator is operably connected to the fuel tank and, thence, to the burner. The regulator is conveniently a zero pressure regulator.

Self-contained camp heater

Method and apparatus for heating water to one of a plurality of predetermined temperatures and for generating steam. A burner with a water jacket receives water from a pump which obtains water from a water source flowing through one of plurality of different flow circuits. The burner provides heat for heating the water to one of the predetermined temperatures as selected by an operator. The water flow through the burner is regulated by a temperature sensor which senses the temperature of the water within the water jacket. The water flow changes if the temperature sensor senses a temperature which is higher or lower than the predetermined value. Steam may further be generated though a further steam flow circuit to maintain water temperatures with the containers or to heat the water within the containers to desired temperatures.

Hot water and steam generating method and apparatus

A heater with a fuel vaporizer. The vaporizer has an uptube for carrying fuel and is centrally located within the burner. A cap is located over the uptube. A tubular casing forms an annulus about the uptube and communicates with the cap. Vaporizer fuel is carried upwardly in the uptube and downwardly in the annulus. A zero pressure regulator provides fuel to the burner.

Fuel vaporizer

A burner has a burner tube and a nozzle holder mounted in one end of the burner tube. An igniter is positioned within the nozzle holder and acts to ignite any of the multi-liquid fuels which may be used with the burner. A nozzle emits atomized liquid fuel under the venturi effect of the nozzle with compressed air being supplied to the nozzle. Primary air holes extend circumferentially around the nozzle holder to admit air radially which passes directly to the burner tube. Secondary air holes extend around the inside circumference of the burner tube on the secondary air injection plate and admit air axially to the burner tube.

Multi-fuel burner and heat exchanger

A powered multi-fuel burner has a burner assembly which utilizes an air aspirated nozzle. An air compressor provides air to the air aspirated nozzle and to a fuel-holding tank where the fuel within the tank is put under air pressure thereby to enhance its flow to the air aspirated nozzle. A bleed valve is positioned between the air compressor and the fuel thank thereby to increase or decrease the air pressure within the fuel tank. By increasing and decreasing the air pressure within the tank, the burner can produce heat over a range of operation.

Multifuel burner with pressurized fuel-holding tank

A temperature compensated fuel control valve or regulator has a temperature sensor which senses the temperature of fuel entering the regulator. The temperature sensor controls the area of an orifice through which the fuel must pass in order to enter the burner. When the fuel is at low temperature, its viscosity will be higher and more of the orifice area will be exposed to the fuel. When the fuel is at high temperature, it will flow more easily and less of the orifice will be exposed to the fuel thereby allowing less fuel to pass to the burner.

Infrared burner

A control system controls a combustion burner. The system has an ignition electrode to create a flame in a burner, and a first temperature sensor to sense the temperature of the flame. A control terminates the operation of the ignition electrode when a predetermined temperature is sensed by the temperature sensor.

Control unit for burner assembly

A burner assembly comprises a burner tube and a nozzle assembly used as a source of fuel and air for the burner tube. The burner tube is cylindrical and extends longitudinally about an axis. The burner tube includes two flame grids, each of which is located around the outside periphery of the burner tube and which supports a blue flame. A series of flame retention barriers are mounted about the periphery of the burner tube adjacent the flame grids.

A multi-viscosity fuel metering valve comprises a metering stem and a metering stem guide. The metering stem is rotatable relative to the metering stem guide. A port is located in the metering stem guide and a plurality of orifices, each having different dimensions, are positioned in the metering stem. The port in the metering stem guide may be moved relative to each of the orifices and each of the orifices may be individually positioned adjacent the port. The selection of an orifice for a fuel having a particular viscosity allows the use of different fuels with a heating apparatus such as a burner.
