An image display system and method. A pixel of the system has a latch circuit and a display circuit. According to a scan line signal, the latch circuit receives and temporarily stores a data line signal. The display circuit works according to a reset signal and a set signal. According to the reset signal, the display circuit resets a voltage level of a control terminal of liquid crystal materials of the pixel. According to the set signal, the display circuit receives the data line signal stored in the latch circuit, to adjust the control terminal of the liquid crystal materials and thereby the liquid crystal materials are rotated and the expected image of the pixel is displayed accordingly. The active interval of the reset signal is arranged after a last scan line signal is disabled and prior to the enabling of the set signal.

Image display system and method

A display device includes a gray scale value counting module, a ratio generating module, a first sub-frame function module, a second sub-frame function module, and a display panel. The gray scale value counting module is configured for generating a gray scale value counting signal according to image data of each frame. The ratio generating module is configured for generating a ratio value signal according to the gray scale value counting signal. The first and second sub-frame function module are configured for generating first sub-frame image data and second sub-frame image data according to the ratio value signal and the image data respectively. The display panel is configured for displaying a first sub-frame image and a second sub-frame image according to the first and second sub-frame image data. A method for driving a display device is also provided.

Display device and method for driving same

A display driving unit used in a liquid crystal display (LCD) stores two &#x3b3; curves. When the LCD displays images, the display driving unit determines the luminance of the image in a first sub-period for displaying the image according to the gray level of the image and the first &#x3b3; curve, and determines the luminance of the image in a second sub-period for displaying the image according to the gray level of the image and the second &#x3b3; curve. The LCD displays the image in the luminance determined according to the gray level of the image and the first &#x3b3; curve in the first sub-period and displays the image in the luminance determined according to the gray level of the image and the second &#x3b3; curve in the second sub-period.

Display driving unit and method for using the same

A method for improving motion blur and contour shadow of a display displaying images having a number of frames includes transforming a second average gray scale into a third average gray scale when a first average gray scale for displaying a first frame is unequal to the second average gray scale for displaying a second frame. A luminance corresponding to the second frame is generated according to the third average gray scale and at least one luminance query table. The third average gray scale is greater than the first average gray scale and the second average gray scale or less than the first average gray scale and the second average gray scale.

An exemplary liquid crystal display includes a frame buffer (), a frame rate conversion circuit (), a data divider (), and a data driver (). The frame buffer is configured for doubling a frame rate of inputted signals. The frame rate conversion circuit is configured for reducing a bit number of signals. The frame rate conversion circuit includes a first and a second look up table. The first look up table converts a gray level of one of the sub-frames into a higher gray level corresponding to signals with the lower bit number. The second look up table is configured for converting a gray level of the other sub-frame into a lower gray level corresponding to signals with the lower bit number. The data divider is configured for transmitting the signals to the data driver in several buses. The data driver drives the liquid crystal display to display images.

An exemplary LCD includes a frame memory configured for receiving a plurality of first gradations of current frame and outputting a plurality of second gradations of preceding frame pre-stored therein; a comparator configured for receiving, comparing the first gradations with the second gradation to generate a comparison result; a luminance detector configured for detecting a luminance degree of each of pixel according to the gradations of current frame; a calculator configured for calculating a complication degree of a picture to be displayed in current frame; and a gradation processor configured for receiving the first gradations of current frame to be displayed on the LCD panel, generating a plurality of pairs of compensating gradations according to the gradation of each pixel, and selecting one pair of the compensating gradations to be outputted to the LCD panel according to a received comparison result, a received luminance degree, and a received complication degree.

An exemplary liquid crystal display () includes a liquid crystal panel (), a data circuit (), and a black insertion controller (). The liquid crystal panel includes a plurality of pixels (). The black insertion controller receives a display signal of the pixel, and generates a black insertion control signal according to an address of the pixel, and the data circuit drives the pixel to display one of a black image unit and a normal image unit according to the black insertion control signal in a first sub-frame period of a frame period. The displayed black image unit of the pixel or the displayed normal image unit is converted into a normal image unit or a black image unit in a second sub-frame period of the frame period.
