A modular system for building underwater robotic vehicles (URVs), including a pressure vessel system, modular chassis elements, a propulsion system and compatible buoyancy modules. The pressure vessel system uses standardized, interchangeable modules to allow for ease of modification of the URV and accommodation of different internal and external components such as sensors and computer systems. The system also includes standard, reconfigurable connections of the pressure vessel to the modular chassis system. A standardized, modular propulsion system includes a magnetic clutch, and a magnetic sleeve used to power the URV on or off.

Modular rapid development system for building underwater robots and robotic vehicles

An underwater robotic vehicle development system for building underwater robotic vehicles (URVs), including a pressure vessel system, modular chassis elements, a propulsion system and compatible buoyancy modules. The pressure vessel system uses standardized, interchangeable modules to allow for ease of modification of the URV and accommodation of different internal and external components such as sensors and computer systems. The system also includes standard, reconfigurable connections of the pressure vessel to the modular chassis system. A standardized, modular propulsion system includes a magnetic clutch, and a magnetic sleeve used to power the URV on or off.

A case system includes an electronic device and the electronic device has a charge port. A case is provided and the electronic device is removably positioned in the case. The case is in electrical communication with the electronic device when the electronic device is positioned within the case. A pair of lights is provided and each of the lights is movably coupled to the case. Thus, each of the lights is positionable between a deployed position and a stored position. Each of the lights selectively emits light when the lights are positioned in the deployed position thereby facilitating the electronic device to take a picture. A charging unit is coupled to the case. The charging unit is in electrical communication with the electronic device when the electronic device is positioned within the case. Thus, the charging unit charges the electronic device.

Case system

An antenna support structure for a remote vehicle comprises a tubular mast configured to demonstrate a non-linear response to radial force. The mast is rigid and configured to hold an antenna approximately perpendicular to a base of the mast at equilibrium during operation of the remote vehicle and elastically buckle in response to a predetermined radial force on the antenna. The support structure is also configured to return to equilibrium once the predetermined radial force is removed.

A robotic assembly comprises: a mobile vehicle including mechanical components configured to operate the mobile vehicle in a manual mode of operation; a main power circuit for distributing a power signal to the electromechanical components and to external modules; an automation module connected to the mechanical components and operable to control and operate the mechanical components, and a power circuit configured to distribute power to the mechanical components and the external modules; a safety control module connected to the main power circuit, the automation module, and the mechanical components; a mode selector connected to the main power circuit; and emergency stop switches configured to prevent a flow of current to substantially all of the mechanical components and external modules in response to actuation of the emergency stop buttons.

An air deflector is adapted to be mounted on a vehicle and, by deflecting air, to reduce turbulence and drag associated with another vehicle which is towed by the first vehicle. The air deflector includes a side shield to extend outwardly and rearwardly outside a side wall of the front vehicle along the side wall, and a mounting for the shield, to mount the shield on the front vehicle. The side shield has an inner edge surface which defines an edge surface contour for facing the side wall of the vehicle in close proximity to such side wall. The mounting is adapted to accomplish the facing-close proximity relationship between the inner edge surface of the shield and the side wall of the vehicle. The mounting includes a post to insert in a substantially vertical opening provided on the front vehicle, and a brace. The post has a surface to extend outwardly and rearwardly and to abut the rear surface of the shield. The brace has a shield flange to extend outwardly and rearwardly and to also abut the rear surface of the shield, and a vehicle flange to extend along and to abut the side wall of the front vehicle. The shield and mounting are adapted to provide the close proximity between the inner edge surface and the side wall of the front vehicle while maintaining such inner edge surface and side wall in spaced-apart relation. The air deflector is particularly adapted for use on a pick-up truck. Method aspects, i.e., a method of providing an air deflector, are in accordance with the described air deflector and its use.
