A pump for chopping solid material in a liquid stream having a volute housing, a rotating cutter with at least one blade parallel to a rotational axis of the rotating cutter, an impeller arranged at an outer circumference of the rotating cutter, and a stationary cutter having at least one blade parallel to the rotational axis of the rotating cutter. The stationary cutter is concentric with the rotating cutter, and the stationary cutter, the rotating cutter and the impeller are all at least partially housed within the volute housing. Typically, the rotating cutter has a different number of blades than the stationary cutter. Optionally, the pump, further comprises an inspection cover that is removably attached to the pump, and has an opening large enough to remove the stationary cutter and the rotating cutter from the volute housing.

Chopper pump

A pump assembly that includes a pump housing defining an inlet for receiving fluid to be pumped and an outlet for discharging fluid. A rotatable impeller operatively coupled to a drive motor includes a plurality of vane structures integrally formed with a shroud. Each vane structure includes a curved, axial vane segment extending axially from the shroud. A compound, multi-step auxiliary vane extends transversely from each axial vane segment. The auxiliary vane or wing includes at least first and second sections, with the second section overlying the first section in a staggered configuration such that the trailing edges of the first and second sections are spaced apart to form a step. The second auxiliary vane section includes an axial surface that also forms a working vane surface for the auxiliary vane.

Pump and pump impeller

A centrifugal pump having an adjustable clean-out assembly (), the position of which determines the face clearance between a wear plate () and an impeller (). The clean-out assembly includes an end cover () that threadedly mounts a plurality of adjustment assemblies. The adjustment assembly includes an adjuster () that defines a through bore for slidably receiving a retaining stud () that extends from the pump housing. Each adjuster includes an abutment surface () which engages a pump surface and which establishes the face clearance between the wear plate and the impeller. Each adjuster includes a hex-shaped head which is engageable by an associated locking member () secured to the end cover. Each locking member includes a locking collar () having 18 teeth which allows the collar to engage the hex-shaped head of the adjuster in 18 different postions. By knowing the thread pitch of the adjuster thread, precise rotations of the adjuster can be used to establish a precise clearance between the wear plate and impeller. Once the adjustment is made, the locking collar is secured to the end cover which enables the clean-out assembly to be removed from the pump without disturbing the adjustment.
