A seating system for a vehicle having a seat and a vehicle body includes a latch system having a seat portion configured for attachment to the seat and selectively engageable to and disengageable from the vehicle body. The seat portion may include a deformable portion configured to deform when the seat portion is engaged with the vehicle body and the seat is subjected to a force directed in a forward direction relative to the seat. The seat portion may also include a detachable portion having a plurality of elements configured such that at least one of the elements separates from at least one other of the elements when the seat portion is engaged with the vehicle body and the seat is subjected to the force.

Seating system for a vehicle

A seat-back adjustment system for a seat for a vehicle may include a frame member configured for attachment to a support structure of the vehicle, and a rack arrangement movably attached to the frame member. The rack arrangement may include an adjustment rack and a locking rack. A driving arrangement may include at least one gear intermeshing with the adjustment rack and operable to move the rack arrangement relative to the frame member, and a locking arrangement may include at least one locking element operable to engage the locking rack when the vehicle experiences at least a predetermined negative acceleration.

A seat latch assembly is provided with a mounting plate with a pair of mounting apertures and a receptacle sized for receipt of a striker. A pair of bushings are each received within one of the pair of mounting apertures. A pawl is pivotally connected to a first bushing, with a latch hook to retain the striker in a latched position. An input member is operably connected to the pawl and oriented and sized relative to the receptacle to extend into the receptacle in an unlatched position to engage the striker and actuate the pawl to a latched position while moving relative to the pawl. A cover plate is mounted to the mounting plate with a guide formed therein. The input member cooperates with the guide to pivot and slide relative to the mounting plate and toward the first bushing during movement from the unlatched position to the latched position.

A seat assembly having a seat back that may include first and second seat back portions that may be configured to rotate about an axis. A striker may be disposed on the first seat back portion. A latch mechanism may be disposed on the second seat back portion. A vehicle seat and seat back adjustment mechanism are disclosed that provide for adjusting the angle of inclination of a seat back relative to a seat base and also permit easy entry to the area behind the seat by allowing the seat back to be released to move between an adjusted angle of inclination and a position in which the seat back is folded over the seat base. The adjustment mechanism includes at least one comfort tilt recliner mechanism and one easy entry recliner mechanism that are joined via a first interface and a second interface face each, respectively, located on the outer surfaces of the facing plates of the two mechanisms by a radial laser welding process, such that the mechanisms may be coaxially attached to the vehicle seat to permit the seat back to pivot about a single axis.

Seat recliner with easy entry release and method of manufacturing same

A recliner assembly for a vehicle seat that has a pair of adjustable recliners are disposed on opposite sides of the seat that connect a seat back to a seat base. The recliners are shifted between a locked position and an unlocked position by manually pivoting a connector rod. Each recliner has a gear plate and a guide plate that are each associated with one of the seat base and seat back. An easy entry module is also provided to release the seat back to pivot over the seat base to provide access to an area behind the seat back. A static connector may be provided that connects the gear plates of each of the pair of recliners and retains the gear plates of each recliner in alignment with the corresponding gear plate of the other recliner.

A vehicle seat and reclining mechanism are disclosed that provide for adjusting the angle of inclination of a seat back relative to a seat base and also permits easy entry to the area behind the seat by allowing the seat back to be released to move between an adjusted angle of inclination and a position in which the seat back is folded over the seat base. The reclining mechanism may include three or four release mechanisms that are all coaxially attached to the vehicle seat to permit the seat back to pivot about a single axis.

Dual cam recliner

A recliner apparatus for a vehicle seat has a pair of discontinuous recliner mechanisms attached to opposite sides of the seat for comfort adjustment in which the angle of the seat back is moved to a desired angular orientation. A master easy entry recliner mechanism is attached to an inner side of one of the side support members of the vehicle seat frame. A locking pawl is operatively connected to the side support member to selectively engage a stop in a locked position. The locking pawl is moved by a control cable between locked and unlocked positions. A slave easy entry connector is connected to the master easy entry recliner mechanism by a slave control cable. The slave easy entry connector releases one of the discontinuous recliner mechanisms when the master easy entry recliner is shifted to the easy entry position.

A vehicle seat assembly has a seat base, a seat back pivotally connected to the seat base and being movable between an upright and a folded position, a spring member connected to the other of the seat base and the seat back, and a follower rotatably connected to the spring member. One of the seat base and the seat back define a cam surface. The spring member is compressed by the follower engaging the cam surface. The follower engages the cam surface when the seat back is in the folded position.

Vehicle seat fold mechanism

A seat assembly for a vehicle includes a recliner assembly having an easy entry mechanism. The easy entry mechanism can be mounted to either an outboard or an inboard side of a seat back frame side member used in seat assemblies for both five-door and three-door vehicle models. The recliner assembly includes an adaptor to couple the easy entry mechanism to a recliner heart disposed on an opposite side of the seat back frame side member.

A vehicle seat easy entry system includes a vehicle seat having a seat bottom and a seat back. A seat track assembly receives the vehicle seat and selectively allows forward and rearward travel of the seat bottom. A seat track locking mechanism is engageable to lock the seat bottom with respect to the seat track assembly. A recliner mechanism controls an orientation of the seat back. The recliner mechanism is engageable to lock the seat back with respect to the seat bottom. An easy entry handle is arranged such that assertion of the easy entry handle releases the seat track locking mechanism. The seat track assembly and the recliner mechanism are configured such that movement of the seat bottom to a forward position releases the recliner mechanism, thereby allowing the seat back to rotate to an easy entry position.
