An augment device includes a hollow sleeve surrounding a channel extending through the hollow sleeve from a top to a bottom of the hollow sleeve, the hollow sleeve comprising a wall having an inner face and an outer face. The hollow sleeve includes at least one bending joint, the bending joint being configured for compressing the channel. Thereby the hollow sleeve may be compressed under an external force, leading to a decreased circumference and width of the hollow sleeve. This leads to a gap between the perimeter of the augment device and surrounding bone material, breaking any connections. By virtue of this, a much facilitated removal of the augment device can be achieved. Further, an extraction tool includes grippers for engaging and compressing the augment device, and further instruments, particularly a jig, for achieving an effective removal.

Implantable drug-eluting device comprising a microporous structure having regularly arranged pores in at least two different uniform sizes, and manufacturing method. The pores are configured for receiving a drug and are being connected by interconnections. Interconnections originating from pores of a first size have a first elution area and interconnections originating from pores of a second size have a second elution area. The interconnections convey the drug to a surface of the device for elution to surrounding tissue. The ratio between the first and the second elution areas is predefined and selectable. The differently sized elution areas provide for different outflow rates. This allows for simple but reliable dispensing of drugs at positively controlled and well determined rates. Particularly, this enables a single implantable device to dispense drugs over preselectable durations of time, like short-term or long-term.

The sleeve is formed of porous material for ingrowth of bony material, the sleeve comprising an inner face and an outer face. The sleeve further comprises a wall surrounding the channel, the wall being made of solid material and forming a sandwich structure with the porous material, wherein the wall forms a bulkhead between the inner face and the outer face. Thereby, the bulkhead wall will stop inflow of any cement across the sleeve from its inner to its outer face. The porous material on the outer face will be kept free from cement and its capability to promote bone ingrowth is reliably preserved. The augment devices are preferably provided as a set having different sizes and straight or stepped bottoms for improved versatility and maximum preservation of natural bone matter.

A bone implant includes a body having a porous structure and having a size and shape configured for fitting to a bone, preferably in a bone defect. The porous structure is comprised of regularly arranged elementary cells whose interior spaces form interconnected pores, the elementary cells are formed by basic elements arranged in layers, wherein the basic elements are shaped like tetrapods, the tetrapods in each layer being arranged in parallel orientation and being positioned in-layer rotated with respect to tetrapods of an adjacent layer. The layers with rotated and non-rotated tetrapods are alternatingly arranged. Thereby a porous structure can be achieved which features improved mechanical characteristics, leading to improved biocompatibility.

Superposed double sheets are deflected to a double sheet box, which is arranged upstream of the at least one print module, and at least those sheets following the superposed double sheet in the transport arrangement, for which an image has already been assigned and which are not in a duplex path, are guided to a waste box, which is arranged downstream of the at least one print module. Finally, the print queue is automatically reset and printing is continued without stopping the printing apparatus.

A lifting unit and a process for lifting a stack of sheets having at least a first support () and at least a second support () are described. The first support defines a first con-toured or flat support surface, and the second support defines a second support surface which has a substantially horizontal, flat main surface. In the lifting unit at least one unit is provided for lifting the first and second supports. During operation the supports are lifted such that at least a highest point of the first support is kept elevationally above the second support, the second support is lifted more quickly than the first support, and the substantially horizontal, flat main surface of the second support is kept in its horizontal alignment. A device to establish a connection of portions of a broken bone includes a base body adapted to receive a bone nail. A clamping holder has a receptacle to receive a fixation rod. A bearing element mounts the clamping holder on the base body for spherically displacement. A tensioning rod connection has a tensioning rod on which the base body, the clamping holder and the bearing element are arrangeable in a row for tensioning relative to each other. In a first connection state the tensioning rod connection is released so that the fixation rod and base body are adjustable relative to each other. In a second connection state there is sufficient closing tension in the tensioning rod connection to form a stable non-positive locking connection between the fixation rod and the base body. The clamping holder and the bearing element are in positive engagement in the first connection state with the tensioning rod passing through a through-opening of the clamping holder with sufficient play for spatial guiding in all directions.
