An apparatus and a method for correct phase engagement of mechanically coupled rotatably drivable components in printing material processing machines, include a coupling for mechanically connecting at least two of the rotatably drivable components. The at least two rotatably drivable components are operated at a different rotational speed in a transmission ratio in a mechanically coupled state, and a control computer has access to the transmission ratio for controlling an engagement operation and taking the transmission ratio into consideration during the correct phase engagement.

A method is provided for synchronizing drive combinations having a plurality of drives for machines. The drives include at least one master drive and a plurality of slave drives assigned to the master drive. A central control unit is provided, as well as controls for each of the drives, including data processing and storage equipment. The slave drives are synchronized with respect to at least one of rotational speed and angular setting as prescribed by the master drive. The steps of the method, depending upon operating values of the master drive, include determining at least one synchronization function for each of the slave drives, determining master-synchronous operating values for each operating time for the respective slave drive with the synchronization function, and prescribing the determined operating values for the respective drive. A device for performing the method is also provided.

The present invention relates to a device and a method for synchronizing processes which are executed on a plurality of units (), in particular, in paper-processing machines, the units () being connected to a central control unit () via a data bus (). The present invention is characterized in that the central control unit () is designed for distributing movement commands via a data bus () to a plurality of units (), the movement commands containing the instant at which these commands are executed, and that provision is made for the units () which keep available the absolute time to synchronously execute these commands at the instant communicated via the commands.

Device and method for synchronizing a plurality of electric drive units in a paper processing machine

A method of synchronizing a printing-machine drive system having a plurality of drives with drive motors, includes assigning to the drives local drive control units and a central operating and control unit with a data processing system having components connected to communicate with one another. The drive motors are operated decentrally by prescribed drive data via the respectively assigned drive control units. Respective drive data are calculated, with at least one of the components of the data processing system of one of the drive control units, in dependence on computing operations required in other components of the data processing system. System-induced differences between the drives or system-induced differences between the components of the data processing system are compensated, in a resulting calculation. A printing machine is also provided for performing the method.
