The invention relates to a sintered material as friction material for a pole shoe, a pole shoe area or at least an area of the pole shoe friction surface of a magnetic track brake ( ), more particularly an eddy current brake and/or magnetic track brake with a magnetic basic and/or carrier member.

Sintered material for a magnetic track brake

A sintered material is used as a friction material for a pole shoe area of a magnetic track brake, having at least one of a magnetic basic member and a carrier member. The sintered material contains at least one of a proportion of pulverized wear inhibitor and a proportion of powder forming a protective layer.

The braking device has several groups of brakes (22 to 25), which can be applied separately by a control device (35) and each of which has at least one friction brake (16 to 19). The control device (35) controls the application of the groups of brakes (22 25) depending on their wear condition and temperature, such that application of the least-worn group of brakes (20 to 25) is favored, whereby the friction brakes (16 to 19) of each of the applied groups of brakes (22 to 25) quickly attain an advantageous temperature range with respect to minimum wear, and are maintained in such range. The entire braking of the rail vehicle or train (1) is always maintained in addition in agreement with a braking requirement signal for the rail vehicle or train (1). This produces equal wear of all brake shoes (20), whereby the friction brakes (16 to 19) are always operated at a temperature range most advantageous for wear and with the most wear-advantageous pressure with moderate braking strength. Very weak application of the friction brakes (16 to 19), which could lead to glazing of the friction shoes (20), is avoided.

Brake device for rail vehicles or trains

A brake lining carrier particularly for disk brakes having divided lining elements has a base plate on which is positioned an intermediate plate to support a carrier plate upon which is attached the friction lining. The intermediate plate has a number of indentations which form bulges. Bulges result in a certain degree of elasticity which provides a mobile elastic mounting support for the friction lining which may be made of sintered metal. The result is virtually noiseless braking with uniform surface application and without the generation of 'hot spots'.

Brake lining carrier for disk brakes having divided lining elements

A brake lining carrier has a base plate one side of which can be detachably mounted on a brake lining support member and on the other side thereof is a layer of resilient material upon which are positioned a plurality of brake lining elements disposed to define a friction braking surface. A frame is provided on the edge portion of the base plate to enclose the brake lining elements. Each brake lining element is mounted upon a carrier plate which has projecting flange portions on two longitudinal sides of the brake lining element. The flange portions on the outer longitudinal sides are received within a groove formed in the frame and the flange portions on the inner longitudinal side extend into an open central portion of the friction lining block in which there is a clamp exerting a force against the inner flange portions in a direction perpendicular to the friction surface. The brake lining elements are so mounted so as to have a lateral play parallel to the friction braking surface and in the direction of friction force occurring on the friction surface during braking, the brake lining elements can be positioned against each other and can be supported jointly against the frame while mutually supporting each other.

Carrier for brake linings for disk brakes having divided lining elements

An anti-locking brake force regulating device for rail vehicles has a digital evaluation circuit which monitors the speed, acceleration and slip of at least one braked wheel and transmits braking instructions to a brake actuating element. The instructions include a rapid or slow increase or decrease of brake pressure or maintaining the brake pressure constant. In order to achieve a smooth control during a braking operation, the evaluation circuit is such that after instructing a rapid change of brake pressure in response to exceeding a predetermined threshold value a slow change of brake pressure in the same direction as the rapid change is instructed if the threshold value is again exceeded and the slow pressure change begins by a maintaining brake pressure constant phase. The slow or pulsed brake pressure change is preferably maintained for a fixed predetermined period of time.

Anti-locking brake force regulating device

An anti-lock device for the brakes of vehicles, particularly rail vehicles, regulates the applied braking force. An evaluation circuit monitors the speed, acceleration and slip of at least one braked wheel and in response to the rotational behavior of the wheel generates instructions for the brake actuating element. The evaluation circuit maintains the brake pressure constant during the initial phase upon the first application of brakes until the wheel acceleration falls below a predetermined negative threshold value. The initial phase is terminated when the wheel acceleration falls below a further predetermined reference value which is lower than the first threshold value. Upon termination of the initial phase, the brake pressure is again varied in a manner as known in the art.

Anti-lock device for regulating the brake pressure of vehicle brakes

An anti-lock device for vehicle brakes has a wheel generator which emits pulse-type signals whose frequency is proportional to the rotary speed of the wheel. A counter counts the pulses emitted during each of successive time intervals and these pulses are connected to a first memory which stores the count of the immediate preceding time interval and to a second memory which stores the count of the time interval next preceding the intermediate time interval. A logic circuit then produces a wheel speed value which is based on the wheel speed counts of the immediate preceding and next preceding time intervals.
