Contacting device for standard chip card and SIM card

A chipcard reader includes an arrangement for guiding a contact support which is reciprocally mounted between an initial position and a reading position. The contact support carries a set of contact elements adapted to contact the contact of chip cards in the reading position. The guiding arrangement causes a lowering movement of the contact support when the contact support is moved form the initial position to the reading position.

Chipcard reader

A contacting apparatus for a chip-card is provided. The contacting apparatus can be located for instance in an automatic teller machine or a telephone. The chip-card can be inserted into the contacting apparatus by an operator. If the chip-card is located in the contacting apparatus, the inadvertent removal of a card located in a card reading position might be undesirable. The contacting apparatus of the invention protects against such inadvertent removal of the card by including a protective collar which surrounds the end of the chip-card extending out of the contacting apparatus, or device within which the contacting apparatus is arranged, when the card is in its reading position.

Chip-card contacting apparatus having card securing means

This invention provides a dual contacting apparatus for a chip-card and a contact set therefor, for use with chip-cards on which the contacts are located at different locations. A flat cable (24) is arranged in a manner such that it provides for a series or parallel connection of the insulation displacement contacts of the contact elements of the contact set to contact one type of card and the contact elements are adapted to contact the other type of card.

Dual-contacting apparatus for chip-cards

A contacting apparatus (1) for a chip-card (2) having card contacts (5) adapted for being brought into contact with the contacting apparatus. A card support (3), which is adapted to receive the chip-card, is movably supported in a housing (4). Card contacts (5) can be brought into contact engagement with contact elements (6) which are stationary with respect to the housing (4).

A connector (51, 86) is provided having a plurality of contact elements (53), the contact elements comprising plug-in elements (55) arranged in three rows (58, 59, 60) with a first pitch, insulation displacement contacts (54) arranged in two parallel rows (56, 57) with a second pitch different from the first pitch.
