A slide ring seal has a slide ring, supported such that the slide ring is axially movable, and a counter ring. The slide ring and the counter ring have respective sealing surfaces contacting one another. The slide ring sealing surface faces the counter ring sealing surface. The slide ring is pressed against the counter ring by a bellows-like spring element. The slide ring seal may be designed so the slide ring seal has an especially flexible slide ring and/or counter ring after economical and trouble-free production, the slide ring seal has at least one sealing surface with elevations or unevenness of a magnitude from 0.1 &#x3bc;m to W mm, W conforms to the formula W=0.03 Dm/s, wherein the average diameter Dm is the average of the circular-ring-shaped sealing surface's outside (Da) and inside (Di) diameter, and s is the slide ring or counter ring thickness.

Slide ring seal

A slide bearing for supporting a shaft and comprising at least one bearing shell for receiving the shaft. The bearing shell and the surface of the shaft define a bearing gap. Also described is a mechanism for supplying a lubricant to the bearing gap so that the lubricant can be removed therefrom. To compensate for negative effects of a temperature-dependent change of the bearing gap, there is provided at least one throttling element for throttling the flow of lubricant through the bearing gap.

Slide bearing

A sealing system for sealing a machine element, preferably a shaft, with at least one sealing ring and a depot for absorbing a leak. The system is monitored with a measuring device that includes a condenser, and the depot serves as a dielectric.

Means for detecting a leak

A sealing arrangement for sealing a machine element, preferably a shaft, with a sealing ring and leak-detection means that comprises a sensor for detecting the leak, and a depot for picking up the leak. The depot is monitored by the sensor and the depot consists of an absorbent and/or swellable material, and is arranged so as to permit delayed leak detection by the sensor.

Leak detection means

An axial shaft seal disposed between a housing wall and a rotating shaft includes an outer ring insertable into the housing wall in a stationary and sealing manner and an inner ring connectable to the shaft in a non-twisting and sealing manner. The outer ring includes a sleeve having a polymer material extending radially inward and having a spring bellows form. A radially inward end portion of the sleeve has a first sealing surface. The inner ring includes a ring flange extending radially outward so as to provide a second sealing surface for axially mating the first sealing face.

Axial shaft seal

A sealing ring having a sealing disk made of polymer material, which has a retaining segment and a sealing segment. The retaining segment is connected to a support ring and the sealing segment is curved in the direction of a space that is to be sealed off and sealingly surrounds a shaft against which it forms a seal on its peripheral side under radial prestressing. The sealing segment on the side facing the shaft has a first surface profiling, the first surface profiling on the side facing the space to be sealed off being formed by at least one recirculating element, and at least one dust lip being arranged on the side of the recirculating element facing away from the space to be sealed off. Between the recirculating element and the dust lip, an annular, self-contained sealing bead is arranged which sealingly surrounds the shaft on the peripheral side.

The bipolar plates are stamped, i.e., liquid and gas channels are impressed into the bipolar plates, and sealing elements are applied to the bipolar plates in one tool in two steps directly following each other.

A sealing system for large-surface thin parts to be interconnected, used for the mutual sealing of separating plates, in particular of bipolar plates with interposed ion-exchange membrane units (MEA) in fuel cells. The system uses sealing elements made of polymer material, in which the individual sealing elements, injected into recesses, form an integral unit with the respective associated bipolar plate. Provision is made between the side walls of the sealing elements and the adjacent walls of the recesses for free spaces or gaps to accommodate the elastic sealing material which spreads during the compression. The sealing elements only partially fill the recesses or gaps and the height (H) of the sealing elements are greater than the depth (T) of the recess or gaps before the compression.
