A drug delivery device comprising a rotatable scale drum, a trigger member, an actuation member, a trigger spring acting on the trigger member and being energized by movement of the actuation member, as well as an end-of-dose switch adapted to be actuated by movement of the trigger member. The trigger member is adapted to be arranged in an axially supported position against the action of the energized trigger spring, and released from the axially supported position when the scale drum is rotated from a set position to an end-of-dose position, whereby the trigger member is moved axially by the trigger spring, the end-of-dose switch thereby being actuated.

Drug delivery device adapted to expel a set dose, comprising an expelling mechanism with a drive spring, a dose setting mechanism with first and second dose setting ratchet parts, a bias spring as well as control means. A drug delivery device comprises an housing, an axially displaceable piston rod, a rotatable drive member, a spring housing, a torsion drive spring coupled to the spring housing respectively the drive member, dose setting means allowing a user to simultaneously set a dose amount to be expelled and strain the torsion drive spring correspondingly by rotation of the drive member, and a release member being axially moveable relative to the housing between a proximal initial position and an actuated distal release position. The spring housing is helically coupled to the housing such that the spring exerts a tangential force on the spring housing to thereby bias the spring housing in the proximal direction, whereby the spring housing thereby exerts a proximally directed biasing force on the release member. The spring housing can be moved helically in the distal direction when a distally directed force is exerted on the release member.

The present invention relates to an automatic torsion spring based injection device having a dial-up/dial-down mechanism by which a dose can be set by rotating a dose setting member in a first direction and which dose size can be reduced by rotating the same dose setting member in a second and opposite direction. The dial-up/dial-down mechanism operates a torsion spring which is strained when setting a dose and unstained when rotating the dose setting element in the second direction. In order to secure the torsion spring when strained, a ratchet arm () following the rotation of the dose setting element in the first direction, engages a toothed element () such that engagement of the at least one ratchet arm () with teeth () of the toothed element () prevents unwinding of the torsion spring, and wherein the rotation of the dose setting member in the first direction moves the ratchet arm () from one tooth () to the subsequent tooth () of the toothed element (), and rotation of the dose setting member in the second direction lowering the set dose activates the ratchet arm () to disengage the teeth () of the toothed element () and thereby allow the torsion spring to move the ratchet arm () in the second direction to the previous tooth () such that the force accumulated in the torsion spring reduces incrementally. In order to provide a smooth movement when dialing down the set dose, the at least one ratchet arm () is provided o a ratchet tube () which carries friction teeth () which engage with a cam curve () of the toothed element, dampening the movement of the ratchet arm () by the torsion spring.
