Pipe section for flow measurements including measuring antennas configured to measure predetermined characteristics of fluid inside the pipe section. The pipe section includes an input end and an output end having a predetermined dimension. The pipe section includes a section having a first cross section in a first direction extending beyond the input and output dimension by a predetermined amount and a cross section in the second direction being perpendicular to the first direction having a dimension B being less than the dimension A in the first direction.

Enlarged pipe section for microwave-based flow measurements

This invention relates to a system for measuring electrical characteristics of a multiphase fluid flow in a pipe, the system comprising an essentially coaxial insert in said flow defining an annular space between a chosen part of said insert and the pipe wall. The system including resonance measuring means including at least one first antenna, the resonance measuring means being adapted to transmit an electromagnetic signal into said volume within a frequency range comprising at least one predetermined resonance in said volume, the resonance measuring means also being adapted to measure the resonance properties in said volume, said resonance having an amplitude minimum in at least one known position in said volume and said first antenna positioned outside said known position of amplitude minimum. The system also comprising transmission measuring means including a second antenna positioned at, or close to, said known position of amplitude minimum, and being adapted to measure a transmission property between said second antenna and at least one of said first antennas in said resonance measuring means. Based on these measurements the system is adapted to calculate said electrical characteristics.

Fluid measuring system

The present invention relates to a system for measuring conductivity in a multiphase fluid flow comprising a fraction of water, the system comprising a measuring section including means for emitting electromagnetic signals into a pipe containing said flow within at least one chosen frequency range and means for detecting resonant frequencies within said range. The measuring section comprising features for providing at least two resonanct frequencies within said at least one frequency range, the system also comprising means for based on at least a first resonant frequency and a first Q-factor related to the corresponding resonance peak as well as the Q-factor of a second resonance peak, calculating the conductivity of the water in said flow.

The present invention relates to a system for measuring electrical characteristics of a fluid flowing through a section of a pipe, the system comprising a coaxial resonator, formed by an essentially coaxial insert in said pipe defining an annular volume between a chosen part of said insert and the pipe wall, said insert and pipe wall being made from an electrically conductive material, the system further comprising at least one antenna adapted to emit electromagnetic signals into and receive electromagnetic signals from said coaxial resonator, and means to measure the frequency response of said coaxial resonator within a frequency range including the waveguide mode TEof said coaxial resonator, The coaxial insert is mounted to the pipe wall through at least one support leg being positioned outside said annular volume, and one electrically conductive fin is positioned at least partially in the annular volume, said fin being positioned in a radial plane, said plane being different from the plane of said at least one antenna and the axis of said annular volume.

System for measuring characteristics of a fluid flow

A multiphase meter system including: transmitting and receiving antennas in the flow pipe, wherein the receiving antennas are at different distances from the transmitting antenna, and a control system configured to: apply an electromagnetic field to the transmitting antenna and receive signals from the receiving antenna induced in the fluid or the pipe by the transmission of the electromagnetic field; calculate a resonance quality of the signals received by at least one of the first and second receiver antennas; calculate composition or salinity of the fluid based on the resonance quality if the resonance quality is greater than a threshold value, and calculate composition or salinity of the fluid based on a transmission time difference of the signals received from the first receiver antenna and the signals received by the second receiver antenna if the resonance quality is below the threshold value.

Multiphase meter

Method for monitoring a body inserted in pipe conducting a fluid flow, the body being positioned in a distance from the pipe wall providing a gap between the body and the pipe wall, the gap constituting an electromagnetic, e.g. microwave, resonator, at least one coupling probe being positioned close to said gap, the method comprising the steps of applying an electromagnetic signal, monitoring the frequency response of the resonator through the probe, and analyzing the frequency response to provide a measure of movements, e.g. vibrations induced by a turbulent flow, of the body. The invention also relates to an insert with support structure especially shaped to avoid influence on the resonance measurement.

Differential pressure measurement device having a microwave resonator with a flexible member

An apparatus for obtaining information on the content and flow rate in a fluid flow, e.g. a mixture of oil and water flowing in, for example, a pipe, including means for conveying a flowing fluid, means for generating a differential pressure in said fluid, and means for measuring said differential pressure. Means for measuring a capacitance are provided including at least one electrode, and the differential pressure generating means is arranged substantially at the same position along the pipe as the electrode of the capacitance measuring means. Thereby the differential pressure generating means effectively defines an earth electrode for said capacitance measuring means. Means are provided for combining a result from said differential pressure measuring means with a result from said capacitance measuring means to thereby obtain information on the content and flow rate in a fluid flow.

Flow measurement apparatus

The present invention is directed to a flow meter that obtains the individual flow rates of gas, liquid hydrocarbons, and water in a predominantly gas-containing flowing fluid mixture. The flow meter comprises a water content meter () that provides a signal representing a measure of the water content of said fluid. The flow meter also comprises a double differential pressure generating () and measuring () structure, denoted a DDP-unit (), that provides two measurement signals (A andB) representing two independent values of differential pressure (DP) in said fluid (). In addition to the above, the meter also comprises a signal processing unit () having inputs (A-C) for receiving the measurement signals and the water content signal, and a calculation module () which calculates values representing the volumetric flow rates of said gas, liquid hydrocarbons and water in said fluid.
