An improved, delayed closing plumbing valve of the type having a cartridge with hydraulic fluid in a sealed chamber retained between an upper and lower diaphragm positioned about a longitudinally movable valve stem assembly. The chamber has a one-way piston which divides the chamber into an upper and lower section, and there is a restricted fluid flow path between the two sections. A water shut off gasket is at the base of a valve stem and has a removable gasket ring to permit the replacement of the gasket. The valve seat may also be removable for replacement. The lower diaphragm is provided with a sealed chamber to prevent its degradation by particles in the water. The diaphragms at the upper and lower end of the chamber are retained and sealed to the valve stem by retaining rings having a conical upper end which holds the inner part of the diaphragm against the valve stem. The diaphragms preferably permit the turning of the valve stem with respect to the cartridge without damage to the diaphragms.

Sealed dashpot mechanism for delayed closing plumbing valves

A security sleeve for facilitating the mounting of plumbing fixtures in fire rated masonry or concrete wall construction. The sleeve has a pair of metal plates which are spaced apart about the thickness of the wall. The plates have a plurality of holes which correspond with a plurality of conduits bridging the metal plates to form passageways for plumbing pipes and fasteners connected to the plumbing fixture.

The view port permits observation into a cell or room and is mounted on a frame which can be attached over an opening in a wall of the cell. The view port has a transparent pane and a grate and may be open or covered by a hinged door operable from the back side of the wall.

A plenum/vacuum chamber for providing air circulation in a room. The chamber is attached to a housing affixed over an opening in the wall of the room and extends into the room. The housing has a grille passing therethrough which has an air-tight compartment around it.

A vandal-resistant and tamper-proof plenum or vacuum chamber security air flow adjustment device installed inside the cabinet of a plumbing fixture. The device has a grille formed in the wall of the cabinet with many spaced openings therein and one surface of the grille is accessible from within a cell or other room and the back surface is inaccessible therefrom. A damper member is slidingly mounted against the inaccessible surface and is adjustable to control the amount of air flowing through the grille. The damper member has many openings which are spaced apart the same distance as the openings in the grille and the damper member is inaccessible from the cell but accessible from a pipe chase positioned on the other side of the cell wall.

Vandal-resistant and tamper-proof plenum or vacuum chamber security air

A vandal-resistant and tamper-proof security mirror assembly. The mirror is particularly useful for installation in a prison cell and is not removable from the viewing side thereof but is removable and replaceable from the back of the mounting surface such as from a pipe chase. The mirror assembly is held in a pan which is held behind an opening of the mounting surface.

A vandal-resistant push button switch assembly. The switch assembly has a switch actuating device with no exposed fasteners which switch may be used in a prison cell or other area requiring a high degree of vandal resistance. Although the switch may be readily operated from within the cell, it cannot be removed from the cell or destroyed under anything but the most extreme conditions. The switch has a push button actuating shaft which is depressed by the user and this shaft in turn activates a push button electrical switch mounted on the back side of the mounting surface.

A fabricated floor drain for waste reception. The drain has a receptor body having a bottom outlet and generally vertical side walls. A top rim is affixed to the top of the body and a large top flange having a removable screed guide is affixed to the top rim.

A vandal resistant security light fixture having a housing and a light which is serviceable and removable from outside the room in which it is installed. The housing has at least one surface which faces into the room and is open at the back to permit servicing or replacement of the light assembly without having to enter the room. The fixture is vandal resistant and is particularly useful in prison cells and may be provided with one or more vandal resistant switches and vandal resistant electrical receptacles.

A wall sleeve and installation jig for the vandal-resistant mounting of multiple adjacent fixtures. The jig is positioned in a wall such as the wall of a prison cell and fixtures such as a lavatory, mirror, light or the like are securely mounted thereon.

A fabricated floor drain for waste reception. The drain has a receptor body having an outwardly extending top rim and a flange which extends outwardly about the entire exterior of the side walls of the body. The flange functions both to anchor the drain as well as to provide a seal for a water proof membrane. Seepage drain holes are positioned at the intersection of the flange and side walls.

A plumbing fixture in combination with means for preventing overflow from a toilet bowl having a P-trap when an obstruction is created in the waste outlet thereof, such plumbing fixture including a blow-out jet pipe, the entrance of the pipe being coupled in fluid communication with the water supply pipe connected to the toilet bowl at the upper portion thereof and the outlet of the pipe coupled in fluid communication with the P-trap of the toilet bowl of the plumbing fixture, comprising: a toilet bowl having a water supply pipe operably coupled therewith; an electrically-controlled flushing valve operably associated with the supply pipe for controlling the flow of water to the toilet bowl; a source of electricity for operating the valve; electrical switch means operably associated with the source of electricity for controlling the delivery of electricity for controlling the delivery of electricity to the valve for actuation thereof; an insulated electrical probe mounted in the water supply pipe; said electrical probe operably associated with a detection circuit means whereby said detection circuit deactivates said source of electricity when water is in said supply pipe and completes the circuit between said electrical probe and electrical ground.

Overflow inhibitor for plumbing fixtures

A plumbing fixture with a toilet bowl having a P-trap with means for inhibiting overflow from the toilet bowl when an obstruction exists in the waste outlet thereof, comprising: a tolet bowl having a flushing rim thereabout adapted to be coupled to a water supply pipe; an electrically controlled flushing valve for controlling the flow of water in the water supply pipe; a source of electricity for operating the flushing valve; a switch for controlling the flow of electricity to the flushing valve; a blow-out jet pipe coupled to the P-trap and adapted to be coupled to the water supply pipe; a hollow adapter having at least four openings thereinto wherein one opening is coupled to a water supply pipe, one opening is coupled to the blow-out jet pipe, and one opening is coupled to the flushing rim so that when water resides therein water also resides in the adapter via the opening coupled to the flushing rim, said adapter having a weir therein dividing the openings coupled to the water supply pipe and the blow-out jet pipe from the other openings therein; and an electrical probe mounted in the remaining opening in the adapter thereby disposing it below the top of said weir, the electrical probe being operably connected to a detection circuit, the detection circuit operating to prevent the electrical actuation of the flushing valve when water is in the flushing rim and in the adapter about the probe, and completes the circuit between the probe and electrical ground.

An improved apparatus for securing, in fluid sealing relationship, the waste outlet of a plumbing fixture to a waste receiving pipe extending through and beyond a mounting structure, such as a wall or a floor, the waste receiving pipe having a radially-extending flange about one end thereof with a plurality of open portions therein for receiving headed fasteners, and the waste outlet of the plumbing fixture extending into the waste receiving pipe, including: an annular fluid sealing gasket with a series of apertures therethrough, one side of which is disposed in intimate contact with the flange of the waste receiving pipe; gasket support means for supporting the other side of the gasket and having a series of apertures therein alignable with the apertures in the gasket, the gasket support means slideably disposed in fluid-sealing relationship about the waste outlet of the plumbing fixture adjacent the end thereof; head fastening means for securing the flange of the waste receiving pipe to the gasket support means; fluid sealing adjustment means for adjusting the fluid sealing relationship between the gasket, the flange of the waste receiving pipe and the gasket support means; and enclosure means for enclosing the gasket, heads of the fastening means and the flange of the waste receiving pipe to render it vandalproof.
