A chair having a reclinable back having a seat and back interconnected by a stiff resiliently flexible transition connection connecting the seat rear portion and the back lower portion, the seat forward portion and back portion being mounted upon a support whereby reclining of the back raises the seat rear portion producing an occupant weight operated reclinable chair having a substantially uniform back reclining force requirement throughout the reclining range of motion.

A reclining chair which includes a base, frame supports, and pivotable seat and back supports. The seat and back supports are pivotally connected for correlative movement, and the seat support is operably connected to an inclined ramp which raises the vertical height of the seat support during reclining.

Reclining chair

A reclining chair which includes a pivotal connection between the seat support, the arm support and the back support. The connection allows for the seat support to be raised during reclining operation to allow a user to maintain a consistent eye level at all times. The pivotal connection includes links which are pivotally connected at the sides of the chair to their corresponding supports and are actuated by the weight of the user.

A file device includes a shelf member containing a plurality of dividers each removably attached to the shelf member in a selective longitudinal position by means allowing of pivotal displacement about its lower edge. A compressible pad upon the shelf floor constantly biases against the attached divider lower edges to form a tight seal therewith while each divider is provided with lateral tabs overlying the shelf member side walls and having a specified height selected to limit the degree of pivotal displacement of that divider. Additionally, removable label holders for the divider tabs form a close mating fit therewith. Improved support means for the shelf member includes a stand cooperating with the shelf side walls or hanger brackets engageable with the shelf and walls, both serving to retain the shelf member at a fixed transverse inclination.

The present invention is directed to a chair construction and a method for fabricating such a chair. At least a portion of the chair frame is adapted to be upholstered with a removable decorative cover, and that portion -- or a component thereof may, comprise a shell having a mounting flange and a groove extending around the perimeter of the shell in substantially parallel relation with respect to the mounting flange. A bumper embraces the mounting flange and presents an anchor rib that is received within the groove. The configuration of the exterior of the bumper as well as the anchor rib cooperates with the shell to prevent inadvertent removal. A cover overlies the shell and is secured to the bumper by hidden stitching. The cover may be infolded within the resilient cushion material interposed between the cover and the shell to present one or more decorative grooves and to preclude stressing the stitching by which the cover is secured to the bumper.
