Sun visor for motor vehicles consisting of an oblong plate (1) of soft material, e.g. foamed plastic, and a part (2) of hard material, e.g. moulded hard plastic. A bearing (5,6) for a main shaft (7) and a shaft carrier (12) for a second shaft (13) are moulded in one piece with the part (2), which with the aid of clips (8) which grasp a reinforcing metal wire frame (3) in the plate (1), is held fixed to the plate (1).

The invention relates to a motor-vehicle sun visor installation. The installation includes visor panels (10) which are configured in a manner to provide a complete screen across the upper part of the vehicle windscreen in combination with a box (13) located around the rear view mirror (2) of the vehicle. The outer edge surfaces (19) of respective visor panels are inclined to conform with the inclination of the windscreen posts (20). The visor panels are mounted for lateral movement, so as to enable the panels to be raised fully against the ceiling of the vehicle.

The present invention relates to a vehicle sun visor comprising a lighted mirror and at least one pivoted cover which in its closed position covers at least a portion of the mirror. According to the invention, the cover is pivotally supported by the diffuser plates, which are included in the mirror lighting. This makes it possible to easily remove the diffuser plates by using the cover as a handle to snap the diffuser plates out of engagement with the walls of the cavities in which the diffuser plates are held.

A motor-vehicle visor comprising an elongated core (7) which is enclosed in a cover which comprises a stretchable textile material. The cover comprises two panels (1,2) which are sewn together along their respective edges (10) with the inner surfaces of the panels facing outwards. The cover is turned right side out and the elongated core is then inserted into the cover through an opening (6) provided therein.

Vehicle visor and a method for its manufacture

The present invention relates to a sun visor for vehicles, which is provided with an illuminated mirror. The invention relates in particular to simplified manufacture of such sun visors. According to the invention, the mirror unit consists only of a mirror plate (1) with openings (2,3), of units (4) consisting of lamp holders (6) and prisms (5), said units being pressed into said openings, and of contact means for supplying electric current to the lamp of the illuminating units.

The courtesy handle (6) has hinge sleeves (7, 8) to support complementary pivot axles (54, 55) in the sun visor (1). The free ends (54, 55) of a C-shaped clamp (5) are pivotally fitted in the hinge sleeves (7, 8) of the courtesy handle (6). An axle attachment for a sun visor assembly, or a dazzle shield assembly, intended for automotive vehicles, the sun visor of the assembly having a U-shaped recess provided in its upper edge for accommodating an axle that is capable of being detached manually from axle bearings provided in the ceiling of the vehicle. The axle is formed integrally with a U-shaped attachment fitting, the axle being located between the limbs of the attachment fitting. The sides of the attachment fitting facing the recess in the visor have a shape which is complementary with the shape of the recess edge surfaces, such that the side surfaces of the attachment fitting will embrace the recess edges substantially over the whole width thereof in a saddle-like manner. The attachment fitting is firmly connected to the sun visor. The resulting attachment can be fitted in one single rectilinear movement.

The invention relates to a sun visor, or glare shield, for vehicle side windows. The sun visor comprises a sheet-like member which is journalled for vertical movement in guides provided in the side of the vehicle. The sheet-like member can be adjusted to any selected position between a lowered position, in which the member is fully hidden within the side of the vehicle, and a raised position in which it covers only an upper part of the side window and exposes a lowered part of the window.

A sun visor is supported by a vertically displaceable device which is in driving co-action with a displacing mechanism operated by an electric motor. The displacing mechanism and the electric drive motor are arranged in a corner pillar of the vehicle. Torsion springs urge the visor body against the window and/or ceiling of the vehicle. The inventive assembly increases the effective useful range of the sun visor.

A pivot axle bearing for a sun visor, the one end of which bearing is connected to the ceiling of a vehicle and the other end of which is connected to the sun visor. At least one end of the pivot axles of the sun visor is formed by at least one universal joint coupling, the component parts of which are resiliently connected together and which, when the sun visor is subjected to a force directed in the plane of the visor and exceeding a given magnitude, are forced out of engagement with one another. This ensures that a passenger will not be seriously injured by contact with the visor.
