A system to receive using MEMS elements is provided. The system includes means for receiving a broadband signal; means for selecting a superband of frequencies from the received broadband signal; means for selecting bands within the superband of frequencies, wherein the bands each have a center frequency that is offset from the other center frequencies; means for steering output from the means for selecting bands; and means for receiving the output from the means for steering output.

MEMS based multiband receiver architecture

A system to deterministically and dynamically prevent interference to the operation of safety-of-life radio equipment in a vehicle is provided. The system includes a radio management system and a wireless network frequency controller communicatively coupled to the radio management system. The wireless network frequency controller is operable to restrict the operational frequency of any one or more of internal wireless communication devices and any one or more of wireless sensors that are communicatively coupled to the wireless network frequency controller. The restriction of the operational frequency is based on input from the radio management system. The restriction of the operational frequency ensures that all the safety-of-life radio equipment has interference-free operation with the internal wireless communication devices and the wireless sensors that are communicatively coupled to the wireless network frequency controller.

System and method to deterministically and dynamically prevent interference to the operation of safety-of-life radio equipment

In one embodiment, a method of controlling intermodulation (IM) interference is provided. The method comprises determining if an IM product spectrum overlaps the spectrum of an assigned receive frequency and determining when transmissions from at least two transmitters are to overlap in time. If the IM product spectrum overlaps the assigned receive frequency spectrum, it is determined if a signal is being propagated on the receive frequency when the transmissions from the at least two transmitters are to overlap in time. If a signal is not being propagated on the receive frequency, the at least two transmitters are allowed to transmit the overlapping transmissions; and if a signal is being propagated on the receive frequency, control steps are initiated to reduce the effects of IM interference.

System and method for controlling intermodulation interference

A transceiver apparatus comprising a software-definable-radio-transceiver architecture. The transceiver apparatus comprises at least one up-conversion path including at least one configurable micro-electro-mechanical-system (MEMS) transmit filter communicatively coupled to transmit output from a digital-to-analog converter to an antenna, and at least one down-conversion path including at least one configurable-MEMS-receive filter communicatively coupled to transmit signals received from the antenna to an analog-to-digital converter. The at least one configurable-MEMS-transmit filter prevents interference on the up-conversion path from signals transmitted from the antenna. The at least one configurable-MEMS-receive filter prevents interference on the down-conversion path from signals transmitted to the antenna. A plurality of upconversion and downconversion paths can operate simultaneously and on different channel frequencies.

Software-definable radio transceiver with MEMS filters

A receiver comprising at least one micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) antenna-select switch, a MEMS filter bank communicatively coupled to the antenna-select switch and a plurality of intermediate frequency modules communicatively coupled to the MEMS filter bank and the non-MEMS filter array, wherein each independent channel supported by the receiver has at least one associated intermediate frequency module.

A method for configuring an electronics device having reconfigurable network component layers is disclosed. The method selects a first group of pixels from at least one of the reconfigurable network component layers to form a network component on a substrate of the electronics device and activates the network component in at least one plane of the device substrate using a plurality of micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) switches adjacent to the first group of selected pixels. The method adjusts a first shape of the activated network component for the electronics device using the reconfigurable network component layers.

A method for encoding a data communication includes measuring a communications channel to determine available time slots and available bandwidth, and determining puncturing and shortening information from the available time slots and the available bandwidth. Puncturing information includes a number of bits p to be punctured and an identity of bits to be punctured and shortening information; whereas, shortening information includes a number of bits s to be shortened and an identity of bits to be shortened. Puncturing is performed on a first dimension, and shortening is performed on a second dimension.
