A magnetic field generating device comprising a frame about which a current carrying coil of conductor is wound. The frame preferably includes spaced-apart side panels and an auxiliary supplementary cooling system panel. Each of the panels is configured with a plurality of spacers and/or perforations to facilitate and encourage the movement of air within the apparatus. The spacers are preferably provided on the interior surfaces of the primary panels to maintain the coil winding in a centered position therewith. Spacers may also be interpositioned between the various layers of the coil itself to enable airflow into and around the various coil layers. Of course, in the alternate embodiment a plurality of coils may be provided such that each individual layers or combination thereof may comprise an individual coil. The preferred frame includes a perforated panel, a substantially non-perforated panel, and a auxiliary supplementary cooling system panel to enable the airflow from within the air space itself interpositioned between the perforated panel and substantially non-perforated panel into the air space established by the auxiliary supplementary cooling system panel and the perforated panel prior to exit and expulsion to the outer atmosphere.

An apparatus and method for transplanting seedling from a first ray to a second tray. The apparatus includes a frame, a moveable gantry connected to the frame, and a conveyor system. In the preferred embodiment, a first conveyor is used to shuttle seedlings into the operative reaches of the apparatus and a second conveyor shuttles the transplanted seedlings out of the operative reaches of the apparatus. The gantry includes a gripper assembly comprised of a plurality of grippers slidably mounted to a track. A positioning mechanism is employed to move the gantry and associated gripper assembly. The grippers includes an upright support and a pair of pivotally connected spaced apart gripper fingers. The gripper fingers are separated by a plunger mechanism preferably having a beveled surface for ease of insertion between the gripper fingers. The method of the present invention is directed to a method of lateral grasping of a seedling elevated above a first tray and transplanting it into the soil of a second tray without the need of pre-dibbling the soil of the second tray.

Seedling transplanter

An apparatus for continuously filling and preparing pots for receiving plants including an endless conveyor chain supporting a plurality of pot receiver elements and for continuously carrying pots from a pot loading station through a filling station for filling the pots with potting soil, and through a pot drilling station for drilling holes in the soil for receiving plants and a pot ejector station. The pots are loaded, filled, drilled, and ejected while the pots move continuously through the various stations. The pot drilling mechanism includes a rotary turret supporting a plurality of circumferentially spaced rotating drills which are adapted to reciprocate vertically as they revolve about the rotary axis of the turret, so that each drill will be lowered into a pot for drilling a hole in the soil while moving at the same speed and direction as the pot. Rotary pot loading and ejecting mechanisms are incorporated to move in synchronism with the conveyor chain for loading the pots individually upon the apparatus and for individually ejecting the pots after they are filled and drilled.
