A method and system for processing information from a control panel in a building management system validates programming data of the control panel and then a monitoring station responding to the information from the control panel if its programming data was validated. A server system can be used for this validation. The proposed system can provide a lightweight system for validation to avoid problems arising from incorrectly configured panels sending false alarms to monitoring stations.

Method of confirming remote programming of device by monitoring station

A system and method for providing account number substitution for dial capture and IP based communicators (panel communicators) is disclosed. The system processes alarm information sent from building management systems such as fire alarm systems and security systems. In the system, control panels of the building management systems are located at one or more premises, and provide raw signals which include the alarm information and account numbers for identifying the control panels. A station receiver installed at a monitoring station provides site account numbers for the account numbers of the control panels. In an embodiment, panel communicators at the premises enable communications between legacy control panels having telephony interfaces and the station receiver. The monitoring station then uses the site account numbers to identify the premises at which each control panel is installed for responding to the alarm information sent from the control panels.

Account number substitution for dial capture and IP based communicators

An alarm system communicator monitors alarm event data output from an alarm panel to a communications path, irrespective of whether the alarm system communicator is in an active or a passive mode. The alarm event data is forwarded to a remote central monitoring station (CMS) over another communications path while the alarm system communicator is operable in the active mode, and not forwarding the alarm event data to the CMS while operable in a passive mode. At least a portion of the alarm event data is forwarded to a secondary monitoring station (SMS), at least while the CMS communications module is in the passive mode. Further, there may be forwarding of at least a portion of the alarm event data to the SMS, irrespective of whether the alarm system communicator is in the active mode or the passive mode.
