Systems and methods for determining the yield stress of a non-Newtonian fluid in real time are provided. A pressure loss and/or liquid rise technique, an ultrasonic technique, and/or a penetrometer technique can be used to determine the yield stress of a non-Newtonian fluid. The ultrasonic technique can include a longitudinal wave approach and/or a shear wave approach. The methods and systems are non-invasive and only require slight modifications to the piping containing the non-Newtonian fluid in order to measure the yield stress.

Real time monitoring of non-Newtonian fluids

Robotic devices that can be utilized on pipes of any material and of a variety of pipe diameters are provided. The robotic device utilizes a ducted fan to create the normal forces needed to adhere to any part of a pipe. The chassis of the device can be segmented to allow for application on various diameter pipes.

Robotic inspection device

Systems for screening and health monitoring of materials are provided. The system can include a material embedded with magneto-electric nanoparticles (MENs), a laser configured to direct incident laser light waves at a target area of the material, an optical filter disposed between the laser and the material, and an analyzer configured to detect the laser light reflected from the material.
