A method includes determining that a user device is located within a specified geographical region, and determining that the user device has an active subscription with a terrestrial network operator operating a terrestrial network within the geographical region, the terrestrial network associated with a primary profile stored on a subscriber identity module of the user device. The method also includes, in response to determining that the user device is located within the geographical region and that the user device has an active subscription with the terrestrial network operator, receiving, from the terrestrial network operator, a secondary profile attached to the active subscription and associated with a non-terrestrial communication network. The method further includes storing the secondary profile on an embedded subscriber identity module on the user device, and communicating via the non-terrestrial communication network using the secondary profile.

Device-driven mobility for non-terrestrial communication networks

A method for detecting network anomalies includes receiving a control message from a cellular network and extracting one or more features from the control message. The method also includes predicting a potential label for the control message using a predictive model configured to receive the one or more extracted features from the control message as feature inputs. Here, the predictive model is trained on a set of training control messages where each training control message includes one or more corresponding features and an actual label. The method further includes determining that a probability of the potential label satisfies a confidence threshold. The method also includes analyzing the control message to determine whether the control message corresponds to a respective network performance issue. When the control message impacts network performance, the method includes communicating the network performance issue to a network entity responsible for the network performance issue.

Network anomaly detection

A method for carrier network integration through a user proxy interface includes receiving a request from a mobile device associated with a subscriber of a carrier provider to establish voice services with the carrier provider for a companion device linked to the mobile device. The request includes a subscriber identifier of the mobile device. The method also includes authenticating the companion device based on the subscriber identifier, obtaining session initiation protocol (SIP) credentials corresponding to the subscriber identifier, and registering the SIP credentials for the companion device at a network interface proxy. The network interface proxy is in communication with an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) of the carrier provider and the companion device. The method also includes establishing voice services between the companion device and the IMS through the network interface proxy using the SIP credentials.

Carrier integration through user network interface proxy

A method () for carrier network integration through a user proxy interface includes receiving a request () from a mobile device () associated with a subscriber () of a carrier provider () to establish voice services with the carrier provider for a companion device () linked to the mobile device. The request includes a subscriber identifier () of the mobile device. The method also includes authenticating the companion device based on the subscriber identifier, obtaining session initiation protocol (SIP) credentials () corresponding to the subscriber identifier, and registering the SIP credentials for the companion device at a network interface proxy (). The network interface proxy is in communication with an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) () of the carrier provider and the companion device. The method also includes establishing voice services between the companion device and the IMS through the network interface proxy using the SIP credentials.

Methods for transporting a media call between an IMS server and a User Equipment (UE) and of handing over the media call between a cellular network and a WLAN are provided. In an embodiment, the media call data and signaling are split such that the data is transported over the WLAN and the signaling is transported over the cellular network. In another embodiment, handover latency is reduced by using a dual registration process that registers the UE with an IMS server using both a WLAN-based contact and a cellular network-based contact. The media call can then be carried over the WLAN and/or the cellular network and can be handed over seamlessly from one to the other within minimal signaling.

Systems and methods for maintaining a user session during an access network handover are provided. The method can include establishing, between a user equipment and an access network, a first connection over a first access network, and a second connection over a second access network such that the first and second connections exist concurrently. The method can include setting the first connection as an active connection for conveying data packets for stateful user session, and setting the second connection as a standby connection. The method can include exchanging a series of handover messages between the user equipment and the access gateway. The method can include transitioning the active connection to the second connection, and setting the first connection to the standby connection. The method can include continuing, over the second connection, the stateful user session such that a state of the stateful user session is maintained through the transition.

System and method for seamless mobility of user sessions with multi-access connectivity

A system and method provide for connectivity to multiple network operators at a given time, and sorting outgoing traffic based on criteria associated with the data and the network operators. Available networks are identified, and a mobile device attaches to a first network for communication through a first application, and also attaches to a second network for communication through a second application, without requiring detachment from the first network. Accordingly, traffic for the first application is steered through the selected first network, and traffic for the second application is steered through the second network.

Democratized cellular network connectivity through small cells

A communication device configured to provide Web real-time communication (WebRTC) for internet protocol (IP) multimedia services utilizing one or more 3GPP protocols. The communication device can be configured to authenticate communication with one or more clients using one or more IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) credentials. The communication device can also be configured to convert communications between WebRTC and 3GPP protocols utilizing Traversal Using Relays around Network Address Translation (TURN) functionality implemented within the communication device.

Systems and methods are disclosed for offloading traffic for users in user groups using a variety of techniques, including randomization techniques, assigned offload class techniques, and bitmap allocation techniques.

A method includes receiving one or more data packets from an external network when a user device connects to a first network. The user device is configured for dual connectivity with the first network and a second network. The method also includes transmitting a measurement configuration to a modem of the user device and receiving a measurement report from the modem. When it is feasible for the modem to perform a network change, the method includes transmitting a network change command to the modem. The network change command causes the modem to perform the network switch to connect the user device to the second network.

Mobility in a multi-network wireless system

A method includes receiving one or more data packets from an external network, establishing a first data bearer when a user device connects to a first network, and establishing a second data bearer when the user device connects to a second network. The user device is configured for dual connectivity with the first network and the second network. The method also includes routing the one or more data packets through at least one of the first network or the second network to the user device to simultaneously balance network traffic load across both the first network and the second network.

Dual connectivity and carrier aggregation at an IP layer

Systems and methods are provided to facilitate direct wireless communication between mobile communication devices while avoiding the need for mobile communication devices to periodically scan for in-range devices and avoiding unwanted breaks in traffic caused by changes in the source and/or destination IP address of packets. Mobile communication devices periodically update their positions to a server, which can send a notification when a mobile communication device comes within range. Further, mobile communication devices can encapsulate packets with an IP address used for direct wireless communication to facilitate this direct wireless communication without disrupting traffic over a core network.
