Methods and apparatus are provided for providing a user notification operative for establishing a connection to a mobile device, receiving a notification from the mobile device, receiving an indication of a red-light state and a time remaining of the red-light state via a wireless communications, detecting a stationary vehicle condition from a vehicle controller, displaying the notification, the indication of the red-light state and the time remaining of the red-light state to a vehicle operator on a video display in response to the stationary vehicle condition, and discontinuing display of the notification in response to at least one of an indication of a vehicle movement from a vehicle controller and the time remaining of the red-light state being zero seconds.

One general aspect includes a system for responsive activation of a vehicle feature for a vehicle, the system includes: an audio system configured to announce information and the vehicle feature; a memory configured to include one or more executable instructions; a controller configured to execute the executable instructions, and where the executable instructions enable the controller to: receive speech inputs from a vehicle occupant located in the vehicle, the speech inputs regarding the vehicle feature; retrieve vehicle feature information from vehicle feature information databases, in response to the received speech inputs; provide audio description information for the vehicle feature information; determine whether at least one received speech input includes a feature activation request; provide vehicle feature activation information to the vehicle feature, in response to a positive determination that the at least one received speech input includes the feature activation request.

A system and method of managing short-range wireless communications between a vehicle and a plurality of personal mobile devices, wherein the method comprises: establishing a first short-range wireless communications (SRWC) connection between a wireless communications device installed in a vehicle and a first personal mobile device using a first wireless protocol, wherein the wireless communications device transmits and receives wireless signals via the first wireless protocol; operating vehicle electronics of the vehicle using the first personal mobile device as a primary connected device; receiving a wireless signal from a second personal mobile device using a second wireless protocol; and based on the wireless signal received from the second mobile device, then carrying out a primary connected device switchover process, wherein the primary connected device switchover process includes operating the vehicle electronics using the second personal mobile device as the primary connected device.
