Methods and devices with biasing force for sealing a well. Such a device is a blowout preventer has a body including a cavity having first and second recesses, a ram block configured to move inside the cavity, a top seat provided in the first recess and configured to seal the well when the ram block is closed, a wear plate provided in the second recess and configured to contact the ram block when the ram block moves inside the cavity over the wear plate, and a biasing element provided inside the cavity and configured to apply a biasing force on at least one of the top seat, the ram block or the wear plate to increase the sealing of the well.

Method and device with biasing force for sealing a well

A ram-type blowout preventer includes a first ram block having a first shearing element and a first sealing element, a second ram block opposing the first ram block and having a second shearing element and a second sealing element, a load intensifying member coupled to the first ram block, wherein the load intensifying member is a stiff cantilever beam, a receptacle of the second ram block to receive the load intensifying member when the first ram block and the second ram block close together, and shims between a top surface of the load intensifying member and a top surface of the receptacle. The load intensifying member is configured to apply a spring force when the load intensifying member is engaged within the receptacle.

A conversion apparatus comprising a first plate and a second plate. The first plate comprises at least one coupling mechanism, and the second plate comprises at least one coupling mechanism. The first plate is configured to couple with a blow-out preventer (BOP) body. The second plate is configured to couple with the first plate a bonnet assembly. A lock ring groove is formed in one of the first plate, the second plate, and between the first plate and the second plate.

BOP conversion apparatus

A ram-type blowout preventer may include a body, a first ram block positioned within the body and having a first shearing element and a first sealing element, and a second ram block positioned within the body and opposing the first ram block, the second ram block having a second shearing element and a second sealing element. The blowout preventer may also include a load intensifying member coupled to the first ram block, wherein the first ram block and the second ram block are configured to close together upon activation of the blowout preventer, and wherein the load intensifying member is positioned to engage with the second ram block when the first and second ram block close and force the first shearing element and the second shearing element together.
