Embodiments of the present disclosure include systems and methods for secure release of secret information over a network. The server can be configured to receive a request from a client to access the deposit of secret information, send an authorization request to at least one designated trustee in the set of designated trustees for the deposit of secret information, receive responses over the network from one or more of the designated trustees in the set of designated trustees and apply a trustee policy to the responses from the one or more designated trustees in the set of trustees to determine if the request is authorized. If the request is authorized, the server can send the secret information to the client. If the request is not authorized, the server denies access by the client to the secret information.

System and method for secure release of secret information over a network

A method, computer program product, and data processing system for reducing the storage needed for broadcast-distributed data entities, such as electronic mail messages from a mailing list, are disclosed. Locally stored data entities that are determined to have corresponding copies elsewhere are replaced with identifying information to allow the corresponding copies to be retrieved. In a preferred embodiment, locally-stored electronic mail messages in an electronic mail server that are determined to come from archived mailing lists are replaced periodically with one or more URLs (Uniform Resource Locator) of archived copies of the message. When a request from a mail client to download the electronic mail message is received, the message is reconstructed from the archived copy and returned to the client, rather than being retrieved from local storage.

Management of broadcast-distributed data entities

A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for managing multi-threaded conversations in an instant messaging system. The present invention provides a menu option to allow the start of a new topic of discussion within the current instant messaging session. When a new topic is selected, a new thread of conversation is created within the messaging window that is segregated from previous topics of discussion. This new thread of conversation may be created at all other locations for all of the parties involved in the instant messaging session. In this manner, each party to a messaging session containing multiple conversations may be able to understand which response is related to which thread of conversation. In addition, a menu option may be provided by the instant messaging application to allow a user to merge one or more of the threaded conversations into a single conversation.

An additional security feature requires the user to enter a password in the notification window before the content or type of alert is displayed.

A method, system, and program provides for hands free contact database information entry at a communication device. A recording system at a communication device detects a user initiation to record. Responsive to detecting the user initiation to record, the recording system records the ongoing conversation supported between the communication device and a second remote communication device. The recording system converts the recording of the conversation into text. Next, the recording system extracts contact information from the text. Then, the recording system stores the extracted contact information in an entry of the contact database, such that contact information is added to the contact database of the communication device without manual entry of the contact information by the user.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes measuring an amplitude of a valid signal, in response to receiving the valid signal; in response to determining the amplitude of the valid signal, comparing the amplitude to a first predetermined threshold; in response to the comparison, adjusting a volume setting of an audible acknowledgement; further adjusting the volume setting in response to measuring ambient noise of a surrounding location; and emitting the audible acknowledgement.

A mechanism for determining a probabilistic security score for a software package is provided. The mechanism calculates a raw numerical score that is probabilistically linked to how many security vulnerabilities are present in the source code. The score may then be used to assign a security rating that can be used in either absolute form or comparative form. The mechanism uses a source code analysis tool to determine a number of critical vulnerabilities, a number of serious vulnerabilities, and a number of inconsequential vulnerabilities. The mechanism may then determine a score based on the numbers of vulnerabilities and the number of lines of code.

Probabilistic mechanism to determine level of security for a software package

A system, system, and program for facilitating navigation of voice data are provided. Tokens are added to voice data based on predefined content criteria. Then, bidirectional scanning of the voice data to a next token within the voice data is enabled, such that navigation to pertinent locations within the voice data during playback is facilitated. When adding tokens to voice data, the voice data may be scanned to detect pauses, changes in voice inflection, and other vocal characteristics. Based on the detected vocal characteristics, tokens identifying ends of sentences, separations between words, and other structures are marked. In addition, when adding tokens to voice data, the voice data may be first converted to text. The text is then scanned for keywords, phrases, and types of information. Tokens are added in the voice data at locations identified within the text as meeting the predefined content criteria.

A method of data processing that converts a set of restricted terms, which is considered prohibited for use in source files, into an encrypted form, which prevents unauthorized users from reading the set of restricted terms. Further, the terms from a selected source file are encrypted with the same algorithm that was used on the set of prohibited terms. A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for filtering and prioritizing instant messaging threaded conversations in an instant messaging system based on thread content. The instant messaging client analyzes an incoming message to determine the thread subject. Based on the thread subject analysis, the client determines the priority level associated with the incoming message. The message is then delivered and displayed to the recipient according to the priority level. The present invention also allows a participant initiating a thread of conversation to override filter settings on a messaging client. The authority to override settings may be predicated on an external list, such as a corporate telephone directory. As a result, the participant, having some authority or rights to override the recipient's instant messaging settings, may be allowed to conduct a messaging session with the recipient.
