An aqueous coating material, substantially or completely free from volatile organic compounds and preparable by mixing with one another (A) at least one aqueous primary dispersion comprising dispersed and/or emulsified, solid and/or liquid polymer particles and/or dispersed solid core/shell particles with a diameter &#x2266;500 nm, preparable by free-radical microemulsion or miniemulsion polymerization of at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer in the presence of at least one hydrophobic additive, and (B) at least one secondary aqueous polyurethane dispersion comprising at least one polyurethane and at least one light stabilizer selected from the group of the regenerable free-radical scavengers, a process for preparing it and its use.

Aqueous primary dispersion, substantially or entirely free of volatile organic compounds, and comprising dispersed and/or emulsified, solid and/or liquid polymer particles and/or dispersed solid core/shell particles with a particle diameter&#x2266;500 nm, preparable by free-radical micro- or miniemulsion polymerization of at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer in the presence of at least one hydrophobic additive and of at least one oligomeric polyester with a number-average molecular weight of from 150 to 1 500 daltons, a hydroxyl number of from 100 to 1 000 mg KOH/g, and an acid number&#x3c;20 mg KOH/g and also a process for preparing it and its use as a coating material, adhesive or sealing compound or to prepare a coating material, an adhesive or a sealing compound.

Method for making a solvent-containing coating material comprising 5 to 70% by weight of at least one mixture of substances (A). The mixture of substances is obtained by copolymerizing in at least one hydroxy-group containing reactive diluent a mixture (A1) of olefinically unsaturated monomers that contain a1) 1 to 90% by weight, based on mixture (A1), of at least one cycloaliphatic monomer and a2) 0 to 90% by weight, based on mixture (A1), of at least one hydroxy-group containing monomer. The coating material further contains 5 to 70% by weight of at least one hydroxy-group containing polyaddition resin (polyadduct) (B) with a Mof 800 to 3,500 and 5 to 70% by weight of at least one cross-linking agent (C) for thermally cross-linking the material. The weight of A, B, and C are based on the solid content of the coating material.
