A method is disclosed to estimate the delay between an original signal and the corresponding captured signal. The signals are transformed and buffered to two sets of spectral descriptors for a similarity measure. The method advantageously offers robust delay estimation for inconsistent delays and adverse spectral distortions.

Identification of content gaps based on relative user-selection rates between multiple discrete content sources. A system analyzes search log activity to determine whether users that are conducting particular types of search activities are ultimately selecting and relying upon content resources from a predefined content source of interest or, alternatively, whether such users are unsatisfied with the predefined content source of interest and are instead relying upon other third-party content sources. This particular type of analysis provides valuable insights into whether content gaps exist within the predefined content source of interest.

A tandem applicator assembly for brachytherapy that includes a tandem and a camera system. The tandem has a tubular main body with a trail end and a lead end. A transparent cap is affixed to the lead end. The camera system is removably received by the tandem through the trail end of the tubular main body. The camera system is disposed inside of the transparent cap. The camera system includes at least one digital camera configured to acquire color images from a patient through the transparent cap. The tandem applicator assembly may be used with a treatment planning system and method for customizing a treatment plan for a patient undergoing brachytherapy.

A liquid storage and delivery system includes a reservoir and a storage container. The storage container has a main body with a hollow interior, and is configured to hold a reserve volume of the water. The main body has an upper wall and a lower wall. The hollow interior is disposed between the upper wall and the lower wall. A refill conduit is in communication with the hollow interior of the storage container. An air conduit is in communication with the hollow interior of the storage container and the reservoir. A liquid passage is in communication with the hollow interior of the storage container and the reservoir. The liquid passage is configured to deliver the water from the storage container to the reservoir. The liquid storage and delivery system is particularly useful for the watering of plants and animals.

It is provided a method for decoding a sequence of bits encoded by a LPDC code. The method comprises providing a set of bit states, including a first state and a second state, and a set of conditions to change a bit state including a first condition 5 and a second condition. The first condition and the second condition are different. The method comprises reading the value of each bit of the sequence, associating each bit to a respective state of the set according to the values as read, determining that an evaluated condition is met and changing the state of the target bit as a result of the condition being met. The method may then set the value of the target bit of the 10 sequence according to the state thereof. Such a method provides a solution for decoding a sequence of bits encoded by a LDPC code with better performance than the classic bit-flipping algorithm with only a slight increase in complexity.

Systems and methods for pre-scanning retail merchandise. A mobile scanning station includes a frame, and a pair of arms mounted to the frame, positioned to hold an open bag for receiving pre-scanned items. A platform is mounted to the frame, positioned under the pair of arms for providing a supporting surface for items contained in an open bag held by the pair of arms. The frame further includes an EAS deactivator support for holding an EAS deactivator for deactivating EAS tags on pre-scanned items before they are placed in the open bag.

Systems and methods for pre-scanning merchandise in customer's shopping cart while customer is waiting in checkout line

Systems and techniques for more efficient checkout are described. A triangular carousel having a relatively small footprint is employed proximate a bar code scanner and point of sale (POS) terminal so that a checker can efficiently load scanned items into bags, and a customer on the other side of the checkout counter and proximate the bar code scanner can also efficiently load filled bags into his or her shopping cart.

The frame further includes an EAS deactivator support for holding an EAS deactivator for deactivating EAS tags on pre-scanned items before they are placed in the open bag. In a method for pre-scanning retail merchandise, a mobile pre-scanning station is positioned proximate to a shopping cart of a retail customer waiting in a checkout line, and a transaction identifier card is scanned. Bar-coded items from the customer's shopping cart are then scanned. If the scanned item has an EAS tap, an EAS deactivator seated in the mobile pre-scanning station is used to deactivate the EAS tag. The scanned item is then placed into a bag held open by the pre-scanning station.

A method and apparatus is described for tracking the length of a sleep period within a mobile station using a sleep clock to precisely calibrate portions of the sleep period. The sleep period subdivided into a sequence of sub-periods each of known duration wherein the durations of the sub-periods are not necessarily integer multiples of cycles of the sleep clock. Elapsed time is tracked within each individual sub-period of the sleep period using an integer sleep counter which tracks whole cycles of the sleep clock. Then any remaining fractional portions of the cycles of the sleep mode clock not accounted for by the integer sleep counter are tracked using a fractional sleep counter. The fractional sleep counter accumulates remaining fractional portions of sleep mode cycles from one sub-period to the next. A method and apparatus is also described for estimating frequency drift with a sleep clock signal used during a slotted paging mode of operation of a wireless mobile station. An initial frequency of the sleep clock signal is determined following power-up of the mobile station. A fixed frequency drift compensation factor representative of a difference between the initial frequency of the sleep clock signal and a predetermined nominal frequency is then determined. A dynamic frequency error compensation factor representative of a difference between the initial frequency and a current frequency of the slow clock signal is estimated. Then, throughout the slotted mode of operation, new values for the dynamic frequency compensation factor are iteratively determined by using a loop filter.

Method and apparatus for compensating for frequency drift in a low frequency sleep clock within a mobile station operating in a slotted paging mode

A net tailgate for providing a flexible ventilated tailgate which allows a fifth-wheel trailer to connected to a pickup without having to remove the tailgate. The inventive device includes a foldable frame having a V-shaped cutout, a netting attached to and enclosing the frame, and four securing straps which are attachable to a box of a pickup. A cutout cover is removably attachable about the V-shaped cutout by a plurality of fasteners. The foldable frame provides structural support around the V-shaped cutout thereby preventing the netting from flapping around when the pickup is traveling at high speeds.

A device and method for reconstructing a vector wave and its source direction by measuring the amplitudes of the vector wave in directions chosen according to a necessary and sufficient condition that ensures that the measured amplitudes contain enough information to provide a unique set of relative phases among the sinusoidally time-varying components of the vector wave. Together with the amplitudes, these relative phases are processed by a microprocessor to yield the polarization characteristics of the vector wave and the direction of its source.
