A method of and network devices arranged for inquiring node device address information after commissioning of a network of communicatively interconnected node devices. A gateway device () broadcasts an inquiry message (M) in the network, requesting each of the node devices () to transmit its node device address announce message (M), after a time delay (&#x394;; &#x394;) from receiving the inquiry message (M). The gateway device () transmits an acknowledgement message (M) to the node device addressed in a received node device address announce message (M), indicating that the respective node device address announce message (M) is received by the gateway device (). A node device () may retransmit its node device address announce message (M) until receipt of an acknowledgement message (M). Method of and devices for inquiring address announce messages in a communication network

A lighting device () is disclosed comprising a light engine () comprising at least one solid state lighting element (); a controller () for controlling a dimming level of the light engine; a wireless communication module () communicatively coupled to the controller for receiving a wireless dimming instruction from a wireless controller (); and a further communication module () communicatively coupled to the controller for connecting to a wired communication channel and for receiving a further dimming instruction from a further controller () wired to the further communication module through the wired communication channel; wherein the controller is adapted to independently control the dimming level of the light engine in response to the wireless dimming instruction and the further dimming instruction.

Dimmable lighting device

A method of enabling at least some of plurality of nodes to join a wireless network, where each operates according to a wireless networking protocol and each is a component of a lighting system. An initiating unit wirelessly broadcasts a discovery request using a protocol of the network, according to which each other node only responds to the discovery request as broadcast from the initiating unit on condition of being within a predetermined range. Hence one or more in-range nodes each respond to the discovery request from the initiating unit and thereby join the network, while one or more out-of-range nodes do not respond. One or more of the in-range nodes also act as relaying nodes, to re-broadcast the discovery request for receipt by one or more of the out-of-range nodes. One or more of the out-of-range nodes respond to the re-broadcast discovery requests, thereby joining the wireless network.

Commissioning of lighting devices

A standardized protocol defines that, when an initiator node is not already joined to a wireless network, and initiates a linking operation between the initiator node a second node, then this will create a new wireless network. According to the disclosure, a field of one of the standardized messages is adapted, and the adapted message is sent from the initiator node to the second node, in order to indicate that the adapted message is in fact a request for the initiator node to join an existing wireless network, to which the second node is already joined. The field in question is a field which the standardized protocol allows to be varied for application specific purposes. In response to the adapted message, the initiator receives back an invitation message inviting the initiator node to join the existing network; and in response to the invitation message, the initiator joins the existing network.

Commissioning of a wireless-communication enabled device

This invention generally relates to interference mitigation, and more specifically to interference mitigation in wireless communications networks. The proposed solution takes advantage of the clear channel assessment (CCA) function used by WLAN networks. Hence, by jamming the interfering WLAN channel during a predetermined time period, the interfering WLAN network is forced to withhold transmissions on the WLAN interfering channel during a backoff period of time. The solution of the subject application makes use of this backoff period to enable a WPAN network to transmit critical information such as, but not limited to, a request for changing the current working frequency.
