An improved system and method for the selection and dispensing of reagents onto a target testing medium in an automated laboratory environment. The system utilizes multiple carousels rotatably-mounted upon a central turntable. The position of the central turntable, as well as the rotation of each carousel is controlled by a microprocessor-based control system. Multiple dispensers, each capable of storing and dispensing a particular reagent, are mounted about the circumference of each carousel. This configuration provides much higher reagent density than previously available. The testing medium is positioned at one or more loading stations. The control system directs the central turntable to a position from which a selected one of the carousels can be rotated so as to position a selected dispenser above the testing medium. The selected dispenser is then actuated to release a predetermined reagent onto the testing medium. The system can be configured so that multiple reagents can be dispensed, each from an associated dispenser, onto a single or multiple testing mediums. Each of these actuated dispensers being positioned over the targeted testing medium(s) positioned at one or more loading stations.

Multiple carousel cartridge-based dispensing system and method

A system and method enables production of medicament containers with edible material at a site for dispensing medicaments. The containers are formed in shapes that indicate the contents of the containers and can be formed with indicia that indicate the times for taking the medicaments. Additionally, the containers can be formed with raised protuberances that provide information regarding the medicaments in the containers. In one embodiment, the raised protuberances are in Braille.

A media supply device includes a tray feeding printable media into a printing device. The tray has a first section sized for a first size of printable media and a second section sized for a second size of printable media. The first section is within the second section. The tray has a base with a first end and a second end. A first endwall is perpendicularly connected to the first end of the base. A second endwall is perpendicularly connected to the second end of the base. Sidewalls having a top edge are connected to edges of the base between the first endwall and the second endwall. The top edge of the sidewalls is a first height above the base in the first section and a second height above the base in the second section. The first and second heights are different.

What is disclosed is a system and method for printing a cancellation mark on a ticket using inks having thermo-reactive properties. One embodiment of the present method for printing a cancellation mark onto a ticket involves the following. A ticket, which has a security mark printed thereon, is received into a slot of a housing of a device which contains therein an inkjet printhead. The received ticket portion comes into proximity with an inkjet printhead configured to print a cancellation mark on the ticket using the thermo-reactive ink. The cancellation mark is printed to at least partially overlap the security mark. In one embodiment, a user activates a switch which causes the inkjet printhead to print the cancellation mark on the ticket upon the ticket having been inserted into the slot. Various embodiments are disclosed.

Methods and systems monitor the activity usage level of a printing apparatus and place the printing apparatus into a power saving mode based on the activity usage level. Such methods and systems sense whether the power supply is to be disconnected from the graphic user interface based on the printing device going into the power saving mode. The graphical user interface comprises a bistable display that continues to show a most recently provided screenshot after the power supply is disconnected. Such methods and systems cause the graphic user interface to display power saving mode information of the printing apparatus (instructions for a user to take to have the printing apparatus leave power saving mode) immediately prior to the power supply being disconnected from the graphic user interface, such that the graphic user interface continues to display the power saving mode information after being disconnected from the power supply.

This streaking problem is minimized by having the scan line viewed by the photosensitive chip move a small distance within the window of the document handler, so that any spot on the window will not be repeatedly exposed by the photosensitive chip.

The suitable algorithm is chosen based on the thickness of the streak and the nature of the image data.
