A secure method for establishing communications to provision modules in an industrial control system generates a certificate signing request to obtain a signed security certificate. A mobile device is located proximate to the module with the certificate signing request, and the mobile device has previously established itself as a secure communication interface on the network. The mobile device establishes a first connection between the module and the mobile device via a short-range protocol and a s second connection between the mobile device and a signing server via a network. The mobile device retrieves the certificate signing request via the first connection and transmits the certificate signing request to the signing server via the second connection. Because the mobile device has previously established itself as a secure interface, the transmission of the certificate signing request to the signing server may be made via a secure connection.

Method and apparatus for secure device provisioning in an industrial control system

A system that facilitates device and/or machinery diagnostics, prognostics and control by way of condition sensing, such as sensing the condition of the device and/or a fluid of the device (e.g., fluid health indicators). The system can employ a plurality of sensors to determine a current state and estimate a future state of the fluid and/or device, as well as providing control of the device, e.g., in order to increase the remaining useful life of the fluid and/or operation of the device. The control system comprises a motor drive providing electrical power to a motor in a controlled fashion according to a control signal, and a controller providing the control signal to the motor drive according to a desired operating point within an allowable range of operation about a process setpoint. The controller selects the desired operating point according to one or more performance characteristics or criteria associated with a plurality of components in the process, such as cost, throughput, lifetime, or the like. Also disclosed are methods and systems for diagnosing operating conditions in a pump or other motorized device.

System and method for dynamic multi-objective optimization of pumping system operation and diagnostics

A pump control system and a controller therefor are disclosed which operate a motorized pump in a controlled fashion. The controller provides a control signal to a motor drive according to a setpoint or according to a cavitation signal from a cavitation detection component in the controller. If the cavitation detection component determines that pump cavitation is likely or suspected, the controller may operate the pump motor according to the cavitation signal, in order to reduce or eliminate the cavitation condition, before resuming normal control according to the setpoint.
