An electronic device and method are disclosed, including a first and second battery, a first and second fuel gauge, and a processor. The processor implements the method, including: determining capacity ratios of the first and second batteries based at least on absolute capacities of the first and second batteries, as identified via the first and second fuel gauges, respectively, calculating a residual capacity of the first battery and a residual capacity of the second battery based on at least one of the determined capacity ratios and the obtained states of the first and second battery, respectively, and outputting the calculated residual capacity of the first battery and the calculated residual capacity of the second battery.

Electronic device and method for managing plural batteries

A method of controlling charging of a plurality of batteries and an electronic device to which the same is applied are provided. The electronic device includes a housing, a plurality of batteries arranged in the housing, a power management module that controls the plurality of batteries, a plurality of current limiting ICs that limits a maximum intensity of a current flowing into each of the plurality of batteries, and at least one processor operationally connected to the plurality of batteries, the power management module and the plurality of current limiting ICs. The at least one processor may set a total charging current output from the power management module, set an individual charging current flowing into each of the plurality of batteries in proportion to a total capacity of each of the plurality of batteries, and recalculate the individual charging currents when the total charging current changes.

Method of controlling charging of plurality of batteries and electronic device to which the same is applied

An electronic device may include, for example: a first battery; at least one second battery; a power management module configured to monitor capacity information of the first battery; and a processor electrically connected to the first battery, the at least one second battery, and the power management module. The processor may be configured to: monitor whether a designated event or a low-power state in which a voltage of the first battery drops below a reference value has occurred, while the electronic device is driven using the first battery; determine that the designated event has occurred or that the first battery corresponds to the low-power state; and parallel-connect the first battery and at least one of the at least one second battery, based on determining that the designated event has occurred, or that the first battery corresponds to the low-power state. Various other embodiments are possible.

A method of controlling a plurality of batteries and an electronic device to which the same is applied. The electronic device includes a housing and a plurality of batteries. The electronic device also includes a power management module, a plurality of current limiting ICs, and a processor operationally connected to the plurality of batteries, the power management module and the plurality of current limiting ICs. The processor is configured to sense a sum of the currents flowing into the plurality of batteries or a voltage of the power management module, perform a primary end of reducing a magnitude of the sum of the currents flowing into the plurality of batteries, sense the currents or voltages of the plurality of batteries, and perform a secondary end of blocking a current flowing into a battery.

An electronic device of various embodiments can include a broadcast receiving module, a connector including a first pin and a second pin, and a processor, wherein the processor can be configured to: identify, through the first pin, the type of external electronic device connected through the connector; drive the broadcast receiving module in a state in which an external antenna included in an external electronic device and the broadcast receiving module are electrically connected through the first pin when the external electronic device corresponds to a designated electronic device type; receive a broadcast signal from the external antenna by using the broadcast receiving module; and output, through the second pin, an audio signal generated on the basis of at least a part of the broadcast signal to a designated device. Other embodiments are also possible.

The electronic device includes a housing, a first battery and a second battery arranged in the housing, a power management module, a first temperature sensor, a second temperature sensor, a first current limiting integrated circuit (IC) configured to limit a maximum intensity of a first current flowing into the first battery, a second current limiting IC configured to limit a maximum intensity of a second current flowing into the second battery, and a processor. The processor may determine whether the first temperature or the second temperature is outside a specified temperature range and, when the first temperature is outside of the specified temperature range, control the first current limiting IC to reduce a magnitude of the first current.
