A touch sensor device is provided. The touch sensor device includes a touch panel including a plurality of touch mark-keys indicating a position touched by a touch object, a plurality of first touch pads disposed at positions corresponding to the plurality of touch mark-keys of the touch panel and generating touch information of the touch object as a first electrical signal, a plurality of second touch pads disposed between the plurality of first touch pads and generating touch information of a conductive material on the touch object as a second electrical signal, and a touch sensing unit receiving the first electrical signal, outputting a plurality of sensing signals to allow an electronic device to perform predetermined operations corresponding to the touched touch mark-keys, and determining whether the touch of the touch object is a normal one using the first and second electrical signals.

Touch sensor device

Provided are a touch sensor and a method of operating the same. The touch sensor includes: a pulse signal generator for generating a pulse signal of which pulse width is calibrated in response to a control code; a pulse signal transmitter for transmitting the pulse signal when a touch object is out of contact with a touch pad and stopping transmitting the pulse signal when the touch object is in contact with the touch pad; a pulse signal detector for detecting the pulse signal transmitted through the pulse signal transmitter; and a controller recognizing a non-contact state and adjusting the control code to calibrate the pulse width of the pulse signal when the pulse signal detector detects the pulse signal. In the above-described configuration, the contact of the touch object with the touch pad can be sensed more precisely, and the occurrence of a malfunction in the touch sensor due to changed operating conditions can be prevented. As a result, the operating reliability of the touch sensor can be enhanced.

Touch sensor and operating method thereof

Provided are a semiconductor device and a touch sensor device. The semiconductor device includes a die including a sense signal generator for sensing a touch signal to generate a sense signal; a conductive die-attach pad attached to the die to generate the touch signal; and a package for packaging the die and the die-attach pad, wherein the die-attach pad generates the touch signal depending on whether a touch object comes into contact with the package. The touch sensor device includes a plurality of semiconductor devices connected in a daisy-chain communication mode, wherein each of the semiconductor devices includes a die including a sense signal generator for sensing a touch signal to generate a sense signal; a conductive die-attach pad attached to the die to generate the touch signal; and a package for packaging the die and the die-attach pad, wherein the die-attach pad generates the touch signal depending on whether a touch object is brought into contact with the package. The semiconductor device enables the size and position of a touch pad to be known in advance during the fabrication of a die so that a sensitivity adjusting process can be simplified. Also, since the touch pad is included in a touch sensor, a system can be simply configured at low cost. Furthermore, the touch sensor device requires no additional sensitivity adjusting process and enables a plurality of touch sensor systems to be constructed at low cost by simply connecting a small number of electrical signals.

Semiconductor device and touch sensor device

An optical pointing device and a control method thereof are provided. The optical pointing device includes: an illumination unit for illuminating light on a working surface, and generating light in a predetermined code in response to a code signal; a control unit for detecting an image on the working surface to calculate a movement value, outputting movement information in response to an input signal inputted from the outside and the calculated movement value, intermittently outputting a code generation signal, and turning off the illumination unit when the optical pointing device is separated from the working surface in response to a determination signal; and a determination unit for outputting the code signal in response to the code generation signal, detecting light in the predetermined code to thus determine whether or not the optical pointing device is separated from the working surface, and outputting the determination signal depending on the determination result. Therefore, a glaring phenomenon generated when the optical pointing device is turned upside down can be prevented, and unnecessary power consumption can also be prevented.

Optical mouse that detects working surface using code included in illuminated light and control method thereof

An optical pointing device is provided. The optical pointing device includes an image sensor including a photocell array including a plurality of photocells for sensing light and generating an analog signal corresponding to the light, the image sensor sequentially outputting analog signals from the plurality of photocells, a comparator for comparing the signals output from the image sensor to generate a relative comparative signal, and comparing at least one signal output from the image sensor with a comparative signal to generate an absolute comparative signal, and a controller for outputting motion data using the relative comparative signal and outputting a shutter control signal using the absolute comparative signal. The optical pointing device does not include an A/D converter or a pre-filter circuit, thus reducing a chip size of a semiconductor integrated circuit, unlike a conventional optical pointing device. Furthermore, the optical pointing device can obtain high-quality image data and accordingly accurate motion data of an object, by using the comparator having the offset removal and the offset correction circuit external to the image sensor. Also, the use of the second photocell separate from the image sensor can reduce data computational complexity of the shutter control signal controller in the image processor, thus reducing current consumption in the image processor.

Optical pointing device with shutter control

Provided is an image sensor and optical pointing system using the same. The image sensor has a plurality of pixels, each pixel including a photocell for receiving light and generating an analog signal having a voltage corresponding to a quantity of the received light, a comparator for, in response to a shutter control signal, comparing the analog signal of the photocell with an analog signal of an adjacent pixel to generate a digital signal for movement calculation, or comparing the analog signal of the photocell with a reference voltage to generate a digital signal for shutter control, and a switch for transferring the digital signal for movement calculation and the digital signal for shutter control in response to a pixel selection signal. The optical pointing system includes a reference voltage generation unit for generating a reference voltage, the image sensor, a signal selector for receiving the digital signal for movement calculation and the digital signal for shutter control, and selecting and outputting one of the digital signal for movement calculation and the digital signal for shutter control in response to a shutter control period selection signal, a movement calculation and shutter control unit for receiving the digital signal for movement calculation to obtain an image of an object and output a movement value of the optical pointing system and the shutter control period selection signal, and receiving the digital signal for shutter control to compare a high-level count value with a maximum count value and a minimum count value and output the shutter control signal.

Image sensor and optical pointing system

Disclosed is an optical image detector and method for controlling illumination of the same. The optical image detector comprises a light source for controlling the illumination in response to an illumination control signal and irradiating light having the controlled illumination onto a subject, an image sensor for detecting a quantity of light reflected from the subject and generating and outputting image signals corresponding to the detected quantity of light, and an image processor for calculating a shutter-on time using the image signals, comparing the calculated shutter-on time with at least one of maximum and minimum shutter-on times, and generating and outputting the illumination control signal corresponding to values of the compared results. Thereby, the optical image detector solves a noise and an after-image of the optical image generated owing to lack of the quantity of light of the light source, so that it is possible to accurately obtain an image of the subject and to provide a power saving effect.
