An apparatus for arranging a spacer includes a substrate, a roller, and an adhesion unit. The substrate includes a recessed portion. A spacer, which maintains a cell gap of a display panel and has an adhesive member formed thereon, is received in the recessed portion. The roller corresponds to the spacer. The roller makes contact with an exposed portion of the adhesive member. The adhesion unit provides for an adhesive strength between the exposed portion of the adhesive member and the roller that exceeds an adhesive strength between the received portion of the adhesive member and the recessed portion of the substrate so that the spacer may be printed on the roller. Therefore, a cell gap uniformity of a display device may be improved.

A liquid crystal display, a method for manufacturing the same, and an apparatus for manufacturing the same are provided. A method includes forming a field-generating electrode on a panel, and forming an inorganic alignment layer on the substrate by using atmospheric pressure plasma. The process using the atmospheric pressure plasma to form the inorganic alignment layer is more simplified by omitting the etch steps of the short point area and the pad areas. Also, alignment layers may be formed on the mother glass with various shapes by using one apparatus.

The present invention provides a polarizer that includes a supporting member and a liquid crystal polarizing layer that is coated on the supporting member. The liquid crystal polarizing layer includes liquid crystal molecules that are arranged in a predetermined direction and polarizing molecules that are combined with the liquid crystal molecules in order to absorb light oscillating in predetermined direction. The resulting polarizer is thin and highly effective.

A system for determining the amount of LC that is dropped on a display panel is presented. The system can adjust the amount of the LC to be dropped based on a real-time feedback on the amount of LC that is currently being dropped. The amount of LC that is being dropped is detected by utilizing a light source and a CCD camera. Because LC is not consumed wastefully and the detection interval is shortened with this system, the amount of LC that is dropped can be controlled more accurately and manufacturing cost is reduced.

A substrate includes a substrate body, a first thin film pattern, a second thin film pattern and a third thin film pattern. The substrate body includes a first surface and a second surface that is opposite to the first surface. The first, second and third thin film patterns are formed on the first surface of the substrate body. The first, second and third thin film patterns include first, second and third liquid crystal of which first, second and third liquid crystal molecules are arranged in first direction in order to transmit only first, second and third lights having first, second and third wavelength and a specific polarizing axis, respectively. Therefore, parts of a substrate for a display apparatus may be reduced, so that a process of manufacturing the substrate may be simplified.
