A leveling and plumbing device that incorporates: a frame, a body pendulously mounted relative to the frame, a laser module fixed relative to the body so as to be mounted for movement with the body, a beam divider, fixed relative to the laser module as to be mounted for movement with the body, that receive the green light emitted from the crystal and divides the light into at least two beams, including a first beam and a second beam, and first and second line lens, fixed relative to the laser module so as to be mounted for movement with the body, disposed in the path of the first and second beam respectively.

The invention provides a pipe laser that automatically self levels an inner frame system in both cross-axis and on-axis directions to provide a completely level reference for grade and line control adjustments mechanisms of a reference line generating laser source. The invention also provides a pipe laser that is operable via a bidirectional remote control.

This invention is directed to a novel, portable, self-powered laser alignment device which can simultaneously generate plumb, square and level laser reference points. The laser alignment device is comprised of a main body that is pendulously suspended from a unit housing. The main body is adapted to house a plurality of orthogonally oriented laser diodes that, when energized, produce a plurality of orthogonal output beams to allow the operator to easily mark plumb, square and level reference points. The laser alignment device is self-leveling, which eliminates the time consuming calibration previously required for instrument setup. The movement of the main body is dampened by use of a magnetic dampening system that is comprised of a non-magnetic metallic plate, which is passed through a permanent magnetic field. The housing of the laser alignment device contains the main body, the laser diodes, the dampening system and a power supply to energize the diodes.
