A news aggregation server aggregates and monetizes restricted news content. The news aggregation server fetches the restricted news content from multiple news source servers that are remote from the news aggregation server. The news aggregation server aggregates the fetched restricted news content and searches the aggregated news content based on input received from a client. The news aggregation server provides access to selected news content from the aggregated news content that is relevant to the client input and charges the user a price for accessing the selected restricted news content.

Systems and methods for monetizing subscription and archival news content

Methods and systems for providing current email addresses or contact information to members within a social network are described. In one described method, an email program application requests an email address for a member within a social network. Using profile information associated with the member, the email address is provided to the email program application which sent the request. The email address is then entered into the send-to parameter field of an email message. In another described method, contact information associated with a first member of a social can be provided to a second member of the social network. The contact information is provided if the relationship between the first and second members is an authorized relationship. The contact information associated with the first member can be used to update the contact information for the first member in an electronic address book associated with the second member.

A system graphically plots articles. The system executes one or more search queries to search stored articles and receives results of the executed one or more search queries, where the results identify selected articles of the stored articles. A database engine embedded within a browser implements a system that facilitates managing client-side data for web-based applications. During operation, the system receives a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) at the browser. The system then retrieves a web-page associated with the URL. Next, the system executes a script associated with the web-page. While executing this script, the system receives a request to open a database. In response to this request, the system uses the database engine to open a database associated with the web-page, wherein the database engine is embedded in the browser. The system then uses the database engine to execute database commands.

Facilitating client-side data-management for web-based applications

Methods and systems for providing hyperlinks to blogs that are maintained by members of a social network who have a particular association or relationship with a member of the social network in response to a request are described. A request for blog information may come from a member of the social network or from non-members. In order to gather the blog information, an association type (or association) associated with the request may be identified by a software application. After identifying the association, members of the social network who have the identified association with the member of interest may be identified using profile information associated with the member of interest. Once members having the identified association with the member of interest are identified, blog information for each identified member may be determined. Once the blog information is identified, a representation of the blog information (for example, a text-based display with hyperlinks) may be generated. The representation may then be displayed on a client device associated with the person who requested the blog information.
