An environmental sampling and assay system, having a coupon storage assembly, storing coupons; an environment sampling assembly, the sampling assembly mixing an environmental sample with a liquid to create a sample-liquid, bearing the environmental sample; a coupon moving assembly; a coupon wetting assembly for automatically wetting a coupon with the sample-liquid; a coupon perceiving device; a data input, adapted to receive a signal; and a data processing and control assembly, controlling the environmental sampling system, the coupon moving assembly, the wetting assembly and the coupon perceiving device. Further, the coupon moving assembly can retrieve a coupon from the coupon storage assembly and move it in a linear manner to the coupon wetting assembly.

Environmental sampling and assay device

An environmental sampling and assay system, utilizing coupons, and having an assay coupon wetting and monitoring assembly adapted to perform an assay on a coupon. The system also includes a coupon storage assembly and a coupon moving assembly, adapted to move a coupon from the coupon storage assembly to the coupon wetting and monitoring assembly. Further, the coupon storage assembly includes a first coupon magazine storing a set of first-shaped coupons and a second coupon magazine storing a set of second-shaped coupons, different in shape from the first-shaped coupons, and wherein the coupon moving assembly includes a first moveable coupon carrier, positioned to receive coupons from the first magazine, that is shaped to hold first-shaped coupons and a second moveable coupon carrier, positioned to receive coupons from the second magazine and that is shaped to hold second-shaped coupons.

An extraction device for a filter element containing collected particles of target material and an extraction fluid, wherein the device may have a piston and a vibration apparatus for vibrating the filter element to cause particles to move from the filter element and into the extraction fluid. The piston may first create compressed air to urge a first amount of extraction fluid and particles out of the filter element, and may then compress the filter element to urge a second amount of extraction fluid and particles out of the filter element.

Extraction device and methods

Extraction devices are disclosed for extracting liquid particulates from a gaseous stream. The extraction devices may have a powered or free spinning rotating extractor that may be mounted in the extraction device's source or extraction duct. During operation, liquid particulates impinging on the rotating extractor form a thin film of extracted liquid that travels due to centrifugal force to the periphery of the extractor's exterior surface where the extracted liquid may be flung to the inner surface of the extraction duct and collected.

Liquid particulate extraction device

Method and apparatus for reprogramming a programmable product, such as, a printer, a wireless communication device, or a portable computer. A software programmable product that includes memory for storing product operation information and a method for configuring the software programmable products is provided. Software is configurable by data stored on an RFID tag. Data stored on the RFID is transferred reprogramming circuitry of the production which sets the configurable operating parameters. This configures the products features and options as desired by the specific user without requiring an external programming device or destructive entering into the packages or internals of the product. An RFID located in an electronic product, within or upon its packaging, or on an accessory may be loaded with reprogramming data such as media configuration data or usage data. The RFID reader may be located on a kiosk.

Arrangement for automatic setting of programmable devices and materials therefor

Linerless label stock is fed to a printer that prints on the front face of the label stock and then to a media cutter . The cutter cuts the strip into discrete labels, which are fed to a tag application station . A strip of electronic tags is fed through an encoder that detects defective tags and then to a tag cutter that cuts the strip into discrete tags. Defective tags exiting the cutter are diverted away from the tag application station. Non-defective tags are conveyed to the tag application station where they are secured to the back face of labels.

RF tag application system

A system includes a method and apparatus for printing labels and applying electronic tags, e.g. RF tags, to the labels, and also includes the resulting labels. The apparatus comprises a label media supply station that receives a strip of label media. The back face of the media may have adhesive thereon, which may be protected by a liner. The media is conveyed to a print station for printing on the front face of the media. A strip of RF tags is conveyed from a tag supply station to a tag application station downstream of the print station. At the tag application station, an electronic tag is applied to the back face of a label that has been printed at the print station. Preferably, a tag strip bar defines the location at which a tag is brought into contact with the back face. The bar is configured to provide a sharp turn in a pathway for a liner portion of the strip of tags. This separates the liner from the tag as the tag is applied to the label. The printing and tag application portions of the apparatus may be provided in a single unit or separately, for example as a preexisting printer and an attachment therefor.

This is a cutter assembly for linerless strip media having an uncovered adhesive backing. There is a cutter for transverse movement across the media and a backing bar with at least two cutting edges. The backing bar can be rotated to place one of the cutting edges in contact with the cutter. A cleaning station cleans the previously used cutting edge as the bar is rotated. Rotating and fixed cutters can be used. The cutter is replaceable and can be supplied in combination with as associated media for which it is designed. The cutter may partially cut the media to make it separate without fouling the cutter with adhesive. A self-healing 'solid' roller is also disclosed.

A printer has a print station and a guide path extending from a media roll station to the print station. Guide apparatus includes an inner edge guide extending along and defining an inner side edge portion of the path. In one embodiment, lateral tracking of the media through the print station is provided by a retractable outer edge guide. The outer edge guide automatically retracts when media is moved into the path through the outer side thereof. The outer edge guide is adjustable to firmly grip the opposite edges of the media between the inner and outer edge guides. In another embodiment, there is no outer edge guide. Instead, one or more tracking wheels are urged against a face of media moving along the path. The wheels are canted in order to provide a laterally inward force on the media. The laterally inward force automatically urges the media against the inner edge guide in both directions of media motion.

Media guiding apparatus for a printer

This is a printer for printing on a printing face of a strip media having adhesive on a back face opposite the printing face. There is a moving surface of a release material which does not bond to the adhesive extending linearly between an entrance and an exit of a print zone to provide a temporary liner supporting strip media within the print zone. A drive mechanism moves the strip media through the print zone in combination with the temporary liner. A printhead is located within the print zone for printing on strip media within the print zone. Finally there is a member which non-contactingly releases strip media emerging from the print zone from the temporary liner.

Media guiding apparatus and method for a printer

An apparatus for providing back tension onto a print media web comprises a plate having a post extended perpendicularly therefrom. The post is adapted to support a roll of print media thereon such that a web of the print media roll is paid out by rotation of the roll about the post. A constant-force spring is attached to a portion of the media plate at and has a handle coupled to an opposite end of the spring. A pressing element is coupled to the handle such that the spring is biased to urge the pressing element against the media supply roll to maintain the roll firmly in contact with the post during rotation of the roll. The force provided by the pressing element onto the media supply roll imparts sufficient back tension on the print media web to maintain a constant pay out rate. The present back tension apparatus provides a relatively simple mechanism that is readily adaptable for many conventional printers, such as a thermal transfer printer.
